This is the black version of Hikvision's 4 MP ColorVu mini bullet with active deterrence. Electronically identical to the white model: a 1/1.8" sensor and F1.0 lens reaching 0.0001 lux, Smart Hybrid Light for full-colour night recording, and a white strobe with a 110 dB siren — all in a 530 g body just 74 mm across. Only the finish differs.

A black camera with a white strobe

Worth being clear, because the two pull in opposite directions. The housing is black so the camera sits discreetly against a dark soffit, fascia or steelwork. The strobe is still white light — that is what /SL denotes, and body colour does not change it. If you want a red-and-blue police-style strobe, that is the /SRB model.

So this suits a site that wants the hardware to disappear until something happens, then be unmistakable. Where the camera should be seen as a deterrent at all times, the white housing does that better.

The most deterrent per gram in the range

The speaker is rated 110 dB at 10 cm — the same as the 12 MP and 16 MP G3 turrets, and louder than the 105 dB of the 8 MP AcuSense strobe turrets. From a camera weighing 530 g and measuring Ø74.4 mm, that is a great deal of warning out of a very small housing.

The strobe and audible warning fire on the camera's own event rules, so deterrence works on a standalone install with no recorder involved.

Colour at night, and the honest limit

Three modes: infrared (covert, monochrome), white light (full colour, visibly lit), and Smart Hybrid — infrared until an event, then white light, colour and the siren. Smart Hybrid is what most installs want.

The supplement light reaches 40 m against a 61 m detection range at this lens. This is a mini bullet and the illuminator is sized to the housing. For a long unlit view, the full-size DS-2CD2T47G3 carries 60 m.

The power cost of the strobe

It needs 802.3at Class 4, max. 16 W, where the plain DS-2CD2047G3-LI2UY runs on 802.3af at just 6.5 W. Nearly two and a half times the draw for the same sensor and lens — the strobe and speaker account for all of it. On a recorder with a fixed PoE budget, that decides how many deterrence models you can fit.

Coverage and DORI

This SKU is the 2.8 mm version: horizontal FOV 111.1°, vertical 57.6°, diagonal 138.5°, depth of field from 2.5 m. Hikvision's published DORI figures are detect 61 m, observe 24 m, recognise 12 m, identify 6 m. A 4 mm version narrows the view to 95.2° and pushes identification to about 7 m.

Is the black version any different to the white one?

Only the housing finish. Sensor, lens, light, siren and power draw are identical.

Is the strobe black too?

No — the flashing light is white regardless of body colour. That is what /SL denotes.

How loud is the siren?

110 dB at 10 cm — as loud as the 12 MP and 16 MP turrets, from a far smaller camera.

Will it run on an 802.3af switch?

No. It needs 802.3at at up to 16 W. The plain LI2UY version runs on af at 6.5 W.
