Hikvision DS-2CD2147G3-LIS2UY (4 mm) — 4 MP Smart Hybrid Light ColorVu vandal dome

This is the 4 mm version of Hikvision's 4 MP ColorVu dome, and it is the one camera in the ColorVu family that combines full-colour night recording with an IK10 vandal-rated housing. A 1/1.8" sensor behind an F1.0 lens reaching 0.0001 lux, with Smart Hybrid Light — white light and infrared — in an aluminium alloy body rated IP67, IK10 and NEMA 4X.

Colour at night, in a housing that survives being hit

That combination is the point. The ColorVu bullets and turrets record in colour but are conventional housings. This one adds IK10 — the top impact class in IEC 62262, tested against a 20 joule strike — which is what you specify for shop floors, entrance lobbies, school corridors, licensed premises and anywhere within reach of the public.

Those are also exactly the places where colour matters most. Identifying what someone was wearing in a lit retail entrance is a different job from spotting movement across a dark yard, and a monochrome infrared image throws away the detail that resolves a dispute.

4 mm or 2.8 mm — which to order

Same camera, different lens. At 4 mm the field of view is 95.2° horizontal and the DORI figures are detect 75 m, observe 30 m, recognise 15 m, identify 7 m. At 2.8 mm the view widens to 111.1° but the figures fall to 61 m detect and 6 m identify.

For a dome the decision usually comes down to mounting height. The 4 mm suits a higher mount looking along a corridor or forecourt; the 2.8 mm suits a lower ceiling covering a room corner to corner. The 4 mm holds focus from 3.1 m rather than 2.5 m, which matters on a low soffit.

How Hybrid Light works

Three modes: infrared (covert, monochrome), white light (full colour, visibly lit, doubles as a deterrent), and Smart Hybrid — infrared until an event is detected, then white light and colour. That third mode is why most people choose ColorVu: discreet by default, colour when it counts.

The supplement light reaches 30 m against a 75 m detection range at this lens. This is a compact dome and the illuminator is sized to the housing — though at 0.0001 lux it makes more of available ambient light than anything else in the range.

Full interfaces, unlike the rest of the ColorVu range

Worth noting, because most of the ColorVu models do not have these:

• Arrayed dual built-in microphones, plus 1 audio in and 1 audio out on a two-core terminal block
• 1 alarm in, 1 alarm out rated 24 VAC/VDC at 1 A — proper switching capacity, enough to drive a real load, and far better than the 30 mA signalling contacts on the G2H AcuSense domes

What it does not have is a speaker or strobe. For those, look at the LIS2UY/SL version.

What does IK10 mean in practice?

It is the highest impact class in IEC 62262, tested against a 20 joule strike — the rating to specify where the camera is within reach of the public.

Does it really record in colour at night?

Yes, when the white light is active. In infrared mode it records in black and white. Smart Hybrid switches automatically on an event.

Can the alarm output drive a siren?

Yes — it is rated 24 VAC/VDC at 1 A, unlike the 30 mA contacts on the AcuSense domes.

Is the 4 mm better than the 2.8 mm?

Not better, different. It sees further over a narrower field and focuses from 3.1 m, so it suits a higher mount.
