AE-MD5043 — 4-channel mobile DVR
The Hikvision AE-MD5043 is a four-channel mobile DVR for vehicle installation. It records four analogue cameras at up to 1080P, runs on +9 to +36 VDC so it suits both 12 V and 24 V vehicle systems, and takes two 2.5 inch drives plus an SD card. It weighs 1.7 kg without storage fitted.
What this recorder is for
This is an analogue (HD-TVI) recorder, so it pairs with the AE-VC mobile camera range rather than with IP cameras. If your cameras are IP running over PoE, the AE-MN5043 mobile NVR is the equivalent unit in the range. On top of recording, the AE-MD5043 carries Hikvision's driver-assistance and driver-monitoring functions, so one box covers footage, road alerts and driver behaviour rather than needing separate equipment.

What cameras does the AE-MD5043 take?
Four analogue cameras in Hikvision wiring sequence, up to 1080P each. It is an analogue recorder, so it pairs with the AE-VC mobile camera range rather than with IP cameras. If you need IP cameras over PoE, that is the AE-MN5043 instead.
What storage does it take?
Two 2.5 inch HDDs or SSDs — SSD up to 4 TB, HDD up to 2 TB — plus one SD card up to 512 GB. Hikvision note the SD card capacity should be specified when ordering.
Does it do driver monitoring?
Yes. It supports ADAS road alerts (FCW/LDW/SLW/HMW/PCW/TSR) and DSM driver alerts covering distraction, fatigue, calling, smoking, unfastened seat belt, yawning, absence from post, IR-blocking sunglasses and occlusion. It also supports right blind spot detection and driver identification.
Can it use a mobile data connection?
It has one 4G card slot with a FAKRA antenna, and a 5G module is optional. Hikvision warn that industrial SIM cards should be used and will not cover issues caused by general SIM cards.
Is it approved for vehicle and rail use?
Hikvision list EN50155, EN45545 (hl3) and E-MARK (ECE R10) for this model.
