Hikvision DS-7716NXI-I4/16P/S(E) - 16 Channel 16 PoE 4 Bay AcuSense NVR

The Hikvision DS-7716NXI-I4/16P/S(E) is a 16-channel AcuSense network video recorder in a 19-inch 1.5U rack chassis, with sixteen built-in PoE ports, four SATA bays plus eSATA, AcuSearch and support for cameras up to 32 MP.

The one to choose when retention matters

This is the same analytics platform as the DS-7616NXI-I2/16P/S — AcuSense, AcuSearch, 50,000 face pictures — but with four drive bays instead of two, plus an eSATA port for expansion. Across sixteen cameras that is the difference between weeks of footage and months of it.

It also adds the interfaces a commercial install tends to need: sixteen alarm inputs and nine outputs, two RS-485 ports and RS-232, so the recorder integrates with intruder panels, barriers and access control rather than sitting isolated. And dual HDMI — HDMI 1 with VGA as the main output, HDMI 2 independent for a second screen showing a different view.

Make sure you are buying the (E) revision

This model number covers two revisions. The older (C) is limited to 12 MP cameras and 8 TB disks, holds 10,000 face pictures, has no AcuSearch and none of the current security features. The (E) supplied here takes 32 MP cameras and 16 TB disks, holds 50,000 faces, includes AcuSearch and supports EN 303645, secure boot and signed firmware. Check which one any quote refers to.

• Hard drives — none are supplied. Four bays at up to 16 TB each. Size them with our CCTV storage calculator and tell us the retention period you need to meet.
• Cameras within the 200 W PoE budget — about 12 W per camera across sixteen ports. Ample for standard fixed cameras; PTZs and heated housings draw more, so send us your models.
• 1.5U of rack space, and Cat6 to each camera.
