Hikvision DS-7716NXI-I4/16P/VPro - 16 Channel 16 PoE 4 Bay AcuSeek NVR

The Hikvision DS-7716NXI-I4/16P/VPro is a 16-channel network video recorder in a 1.5U rack chassis, with sixteen built-in PoE ports, four SATA bays and AcuSeek AI video search running on a dedicated second engine.

The VPro model to buy if retention matters

The two-bay DS-7616NXI-I2/16P/VPro runs identical analytics but caps at 40 TB. This one takes four disks at up to 20 TB each — 80 TB, the most storage of any 16-channel recorder in the range.

It also carries more bandwidth (192 Mbps against 160), sixteen alarm inputs and nine outputs with RS-485 and RS-232 for panel and barrier integration, and dual HDMI for a second screen. If the site is commercial rather than domestic, those interfaces are usually why this one gets specified.

What AcuSeek actually changes

Ordinary recorders make you search by time. AcuSearch improved on that by letting you search by target type. AcuSeek goes further: you describe what you are looking for and it returns the matching clips, in plain English, from the recorder itself.

The VPro carries two AI engines — one for face recognition and AcuSearch, a second dedicated to AcuSeek — modelling up to 300,000 targets a day against 172,800 on the standard I-series.

How is it different from the DS-7616NXI-I2/16P/VPro?

Same AI, same sixteen PoE ports. This one has four drive bays instead of two (80 TB against 40 TB), more incoming bandwidth, 16 alarm inputs instead of 4, serial interfaces, dual HDMI and a rack chassis.

And against the DS-7716NXI-I4/16P/S?

The S has the same chassis, bays and interfaces but no AcuSeek and no second engine — it models 172,800 targets a day rather than 300,000, and takes 16 TB disks rather than 20 TB.

Do I need special cameras?

Yes for the AI features. The recorder still records any ONVIF camera; you simply would not get the search.

Does it come with hard drives?

No. Four SATA drives up to 20 TB each, supplied separately.
