Hikvision DS-9664NI-M16 - 64 Channel 16 Bay RAID 8K NVR

The Hikvision DS-9664NI-M16 is a 64-channel Ultra Series network video recorder in a 3U rack chassis, with sixteen hot-swap SATA bays, full RAID support and 400 Mbps of incoming bandwidth.

The top of the M-series

This is the largest recorder in the Ultra M range: the 64 channels of the DS-9664NI-M8 combined with the sixteen drive bays of the DS-9632NI-M16. If you have been looking at both and wondering whether you need channels or storage, this is the model that removes the choice.

Sixteen disks at up to 16 TB is 256 TB raw. Across 64 cameras that is genuine long-term retention — the kind specified by licensing conditions or insurers rather than chosen for convenience — without adding a separate storage server to the rack.

Read the bandwidth before you specify

400 Mbps incoming across 64 channels is roughly 6 Mbps per camera with everything recording. That is comfortable for 2–4 MP at sensible frame rates and it is not enough for 64 cameras at 8 MP and 30 fps. Storage capacity and bandwidth are separate limits — this recorder is generous on the first and finite on the second. Send us the camera list and we will check it before you order.

What you'll need with it

• Hard drives — none are supplied. Sixteen bays at up to 16 TB. RAID 5 costs one disk to parity, RAID 6 two. Use our CCTV storage calculator and tell us the retention period you must meet.
• PoE switches for 64 cameras — typically three 24-port units. Send us the camera models and we will size and total them.
• 3U of rack space with proper airflow. Sixteen drives generate significant heat.

How does it compare to the DS-9664NI-M8?

Same sixteen bays and chassis; this one doubles the channels from 32 to 64 and adds bandwidth (400 against 320 Mbps).

Which RAID level?

RAID 5 for most sites; RAID 6 where retention is long. A rebuild across sixteen large disks takes days, and RAID 6 survives a second failure during it. Never RAID 0 for evidence.

Does it come with drives?

No. Sixteen SATA drives up to 16 TB each, supplied separately — surveillance-rated, not desktop.

Does it power cameras?

No. There is no PoE on this model; use switches.
