Hikvision DS-9664NI-M8 - 64 Channel 8 Bay RAID 8K NVR

The Hikvision DS-9664NI-M8 is a 64-channel Ultra Series network video recorder in a 2U rack chassis, with eight hot-swap SATA bays, full RAID support and 400 Mbps of incoming bandwidth.

Sixty-four channels on one recorder

This is the point at which a site stops being several separate systems. Sixty-four cameras across a campus, an estate or a large distribution centre record to one box, with one interface, one set of user accounts and one place to search when something happens — rather than three recorders and a guess about which one holds the footage.

It also brings RAID and hot-swap drives. Below this range, a failed disk means the footage on it is gone, discovered when you go looking for an incident. With RAID 5 or 6 the array survives a disk failure and rebuilds onto a replacement without the recorder stopping. On a site with sixty-four cameras, the odds of a disk failing during the retention window are not small.

Read the bandwidth before you specify

400 Mbps incoming across 64 channels is roughly 6 Mbps per camera if all are recording at once. That is comfortable for 2–4 MP cameras at sensible frame rates, and it is not enough for sixty-four 8 MP cameras at 30 fps. This is the number that decides whether a large system works, so send us the camera list and we will do the arithmetic before you commit.

What you'll need with it

Frequently asked questions

Can it really handle 64 cameras?

Within 400 Mbps incoming. That is about 6 Mbps per camera across all 64 — fine for 2–4 MP, not for 64 high-resolution cameras at full frame rate. Ask us to check your camera list.

How many can I view back at once?

16 channels synchronously.

Which RAID level?

RAID 5 for most sites; RAID 6 where retention is long, since a rebuild on 20 TB disks takes days and RAID 6 survives a second failure during it. Never RAID 0 for evidence.

Does it come with drives?

No. Eight SATA drives up to 20 TB each, supplied separately — surveillance-rated, not desktop.

How does it differ from the DS-9632NI-M8?

Double the channels (64 against 32) and more incoming bandwidth (400 against 320 Mbps). Same chassis, same eight bays, same RAID.
