Hikvision DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/S(E) - 8 Channel 8 PoE AcuSense NVR

The Hikvision DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/S(E) is an 8-channel AcuSense network video recorder with eight built-in PoE ports, AcuSearch, on-device facial recognition and support for cameras up to 32 MP.

Make sure you are buying the (E) revision

This model number exists in two revisions and they are not the same product. Several listings elsewhere still quote the older (C) figures. The (E) supplied here is materially better:

• Cameras up to 32 MP, against 12 MP on the (C)
• 16 TB per disk, against 8 TB — double the retention from the same two bays
• 150 W PoE budget, against 120 W
• AcuSearch and 50,000 face pictures across 16 libraries with 8-channel comparison, against 10,000 and 4-channel
• EN 303645, secure boot and signed firmware — all absent from the (C)

Who is it for?

Eight-camera systems where the analytics do real work: sites getting too many false alarms, or where footage needs searching quickly rather than watching. AcuSense classifies each alarm as person, vehicle or neither on the recorder itself, and AcuSearch lets you find events by what was in frame instead of scrubbing through hours of recording.

The eight PoE ports at 150 W power the cameras directly, so the whole system runs from one plug and one box.

What you'll need with it

• Hard drives — none are supplied. Two SATA bays up to 16 TB each. Use surveillance-rated drives such as WD Purple. Size them with our CCTV storage calculator.
• Cameras within the 150 W PoE budget — generous for eight cameras, and enough headroom for a PTZ or a heated housing, unlike the smaller K-series recorders. Send us your models and we will total it.
• Cat6 to each camera, and a screen with HDMI or VGA.

What is AcuSearch?

Search by what appeared in the footage rather than by time. On a system that records continuously, it is the difference between finding an incident in a minute and spending an afternoon on it.

How does this compare to the DS-7608NXI-K2/8P?

The K-series takes cameras up to 12 MP, holds 20,000 face pictures and has no AcuSearch. This I-series model handles 32 MP cameras, 50,000 faces and adds AcuSearch — worth the difference if the analytics are the reason you are buying.

Does it come with hard drives?

No. Two SATA drives up to 16 TB each, supplied separately.

Will it work with my existing cameras?

It supports Hikvision cameras and third-party cameras over ONVIF profile S/G. The deeper analytics need compatible Hikvision cameras — send us your models and we will confirm what you would actually get.
