The Hikvision DS-7608NXI-K1/8P(D) is an 8-channel AcuSense network video recorder with eight built-in PoE ports, 4K output and on-device facial recognition and perimeter protection.

Who is it for?

Eight-camera systems where the recorder powers everything: a house, a shop, a small unit or a yard. One Cat6 run per camera carries data and power, so there is nothing to wire at height and the whole system runs from a single plug — put it on a UPS and the cameras stay up in a power cut too.

AcuSense is the reason to choose this over an older K-series recorder. It works out on the device whether an alarm was triggered by a person, a vehicle or neither, so you stop being notified about rain, moving branches and cats — and you can search recordings by target type instead of scrubbing through hours of footage.

One thing to check before you order

This model has one drive bay and a 75 W PoE budget. Both are adequate for a straightforward eight-camera system of standard fixed cameras, and both are limits worth knowing:

• One bay at up to 16 TB caps your retention. If you need longer, the DS-7608NXI-K2 has two bays.
• 75 W across eight ports is about 9 W per camera. Fine for fixed cameras; not enough for PTZs, heaters or illuminators. Send us your camera models and we will total it.

How many drives does it take?

One, up to 16 TB. If you need more retention, the DS-7608NXI-K2 takes two — though note that model has no PoE.

What does AcuSense actually do?

It classifies alarms as person, vehicle or neither, on the recorder itself. Far fewer false alerts, and searchable by target type.

Will 75 W run eight cameras?

Comfortably for standard fixed cameras at 5–12 W each. PTZs with heaters can draw 30 W or more, so a mixed system needs checking first.

Does it come with a hard drive?

No. One SATA drive up to 16 TB, supplied separately.

Will it work with my existing cameras?

It supports Hikvision cameras and third-party cameras over ONVIF profile S/G. AcuSense analytics work best with compatible Hikvision cameras — send us your models and we will confirm.
