Hikvision DS-7608NXI-K2/8P(D) - 8 Channel 8 PoE AcuSense 4K NVR

The Hikvision DS-7608NXI-K2/8P(D) is an 8-channel AcuSense network video recorder with eight built-in PoE ports and two SATA bays — the K-series model that gives you both.

Why this one rather than its siblings

The other two 8-channel K-series recorders each make you choose:

• DS-7608NXI-K2 — two drive bays, but no PoE. You need a switch.
• DS-7608NXI-K1/8P — eight PoE ports, but only one bay, which caps your retention.
• This model — eight PoE ports at 80 W and two bays at up to 16 TB each.

If you want the recorder to power the cameras and you want more than a few weeks of footage, this is the one. It is worth the small step up from the K1/8P for that second bay alone — doubling storage later is impossible on a single-bay unit without replacing the recorder.

Who is it for?

Eight-camera systems on a house, shop, unit or yard where the whole thing should run from one box and one plug. One Cat6 run per camera carries data and power.

AcuSense does the work that stops a system being ignored: it classifies alarms as person, vehicle or neither on the recorder itself, so you are not notified about rain, branches and cats — and you can search recordings by target type rather than scrubbing through hours of footage.

What you'll need with it

• Hard drives — none are supplied. Two SATA bays up to 16 TB each. Use surveillance-rated drives such as WD Purple; desktop drives are not built for continuous writing. Size them with our CCTV storage calculator.
• Cameras within the 80 W PoE budget — about 10 W per camera across eight ports. Fine for standard fixed cameras; PTZs, heaters and illuminators draw more, so send us your models and we will total it.
• Cat6 to each camera, and a screen with HDMI or VGA for local viewing.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the DS-7608NXI-K1/8P?

Two drive bays instead of one, and a slightly larger PoE budget (80 W against 75 W). Everything else is the same. The second bay is the reason to choose it.

And from the plain DS-7608NXI-K2?

The K2 has the same two bays but no PoE at all — it needs a switch.

Does it come with hard drives?

No. Two SATA drives up to 16 TB each, supplied separately.

What does AcuSense actually do?

It works out whether an alarm was a person, a vehicle or neither, on the recorder itself. Far fewer false alerts, and recordings searchable by target type.

Will it work with my existing cameras?

It supports Hikvision cameras and third-party cameras over ONVIF profile S/G. AcuSense analytics work best with compatible Hikvision cameras — send us your models and we will confirm.
