The Dahua HAC-HFW2401E (DH-HAC-HFW2401E in Dahua's datasheet) is a 4MP 2K HDCVI WDR IR bullet CCTV camera from Dahua's Pro Series. It sends 4MP video over standard coaxial cable, so it can reuse existing coax cabling without a network to configure. It has a fixed 3.6mm lens, 120dB true WDR and Smart IR infrared night vision up to 40m, in an IP67 aluminium housing that Dahua says suits indoor or outdoor use. Dahua also lists 2.8mm and 6mm lens options. With its IP67 housing it can be used as an outdoor CCTV camera, and its CVBS output means it can also be used as an analogue camera. Common questions

What does HDCVI mean for this camera?

HDCVI sends high definition video over coaxial cable. Dahua says an HDCVI system can upgrade a traditional analogue system without replacing the existing coax, and its plug and play approach avoids configuring a network. Read our HDCVI guide for more.

What recorder does it need?

How far can the signal travel?

Dahua says HDCVI supports up to 700m for 4MP HD video over coaxial cable and up to 300m over UTP cable. These figures were verified by real-scene testing in Dahua's test laboratory.

How far can it see in the dark?

Smart IR reaches up to 40m. In Dahua's DORI table the 3.6mm lens detects at 80m, observes at 32m, recognises at 16m and identifies at 8m.

Is it waterproof?

It is rated IP67, which Dahua describes as protection against water and dust, and says it suits indoor or outdoor environments. The operating range is -30°C to +60°C with less than 90% RH.

Yes. Dahua says the IP67 housing suits indoor or outdoor environments. IP67 means protection against water and dust, so it is also a weatherproof camera.

How is it powered, and does it have audio?

It runs from 12V DC (plus or minus 25%) and uses up to 5.9W with the IR on. Dahua's datasheet lists no audio interface for this model (N/A).
