The DS-3E0326P-E is a 24-port PoE switch with a 230 W budget, one Gigabit RJ45 uplink and one Gigabit combo uplink. It runs straight off mains.

The 230 W PoE budget is the number that decides how many cameras it will carry. In practice that is 19–24 typical fixed cameras — fewer if you are running heaters, illuminators or PTZs, so add up the real figures from each camera's datasheet rather than dividing the budget by an average.

How many cameras will it power?

The budget is 230 W across 24 PoE ports, which is 19–24 typical fixed cameras. A fixed 2MP or 4MP camera with IR typically draws 6–12 W. PTZs, heaters and white-light illuminators draw far more, so check each camera's own figure before you rely on a count.

Does it need configuring?

No. It is unmanaged — connect it and it works. There is no web interface, no IP address to set and no VLAN support. If you need managed features, look at the smart managed models in PoE switches.

What does the 300 m long-range mode actually do?

Ports 17 to 24: up to 300 m. It extends reach well beyond the normal 100 m Ethernet limit by dropping that port to 10 Mbps. That is fine for one fixed camera at the end of a long run; it is not enough for several cameras or for high-bitrate playback through that port.

Can I mount it in a rack?

Hikvision lists the installation method for this model as desk-mounted, wall-mounted. If you need it in a rack, use a shelf — ask us and we will confirm what fits.
