The DS-2CD2346G2H-IU is Hikvision's 4 MP G2H turret: AcuSense human and vehicle classification, DarkFighter low-light performance, a built-in microphone and 30 m of infrared in a compact all-metal IP67 housing. Choose your lens and colour above: 2.8 mm in white, black or grey, or 4 mm in white.

AcuSense deep-learning classification separates people and vehicles from foliage, rain, shadows and animals, so line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and region exiting trigger only on real targets. Face capture is supported.

Same camera, different lens.

Be realistic about the infrared: it reaches 30 m with either lens. In darkness the camera's useful range is set by the illuminator, not the optics.

White, black or grey

The colour is the housing only; the camera inside is identical. White suits soffits and light render, black and grey sit better against dark cladding, brick and modern grey fascias.

What it has, and what it doesn't

The -IU suffix means a built-in microphone — audio is recorded alongside video with no extra hardware. It does not have a speaker, a strobe, or any alarm or audio terminal block. Its physical interfaces are the Ethernet port, the microSD slot and the reset key.

• Need two-way audio and an on-camera siren? The DS-2CD2346G2H-IS2U/SL adds both.
• Need to wire in a detector or sounder? You need a model with alarm I/O — this one has none.

Low power

Maximum 9 W over 802.3af Class 3, or 12 VDC at 7.2 W. On a recorder with a fixed PoE budget shared across every port, a low draw decides how many cameras the machine will actually run.

• A wall or pole bracket unless it is going straight onto a flat soffit or ceiling

Frequently asked questions

Is the 4 mm better than the 2.8 mm?

Not better, different. It sees further with more detail over a narrower field. For close, wide coverage the 2.8 mm is the right choice.

Does it record sound?

Yes — the -IU has a built-in microphone. Check that recording audio is lawful and signposted for your site before enabling it.

Can it trigger a siren?

Not on its own. There is no speaker and no alarm output. The IS2U/SL version in this range adds a strobe and an audible warning.

Will it work on a third-party NVR?

It supports ONVIF Profile S, T and G, so it will record on most ONVIF recorders. AcuSense classification is best supported on Hikvision recorders.
