The Hikvision DS-2CD2T46G3-4IZY is the longest-reaching camera in the G3 range — 80 metres of infrared, against 60 on the 2IZY and 30 on the turret.
The 4I means four infrared LEDs; the 2IZY has two. That is the entire difference between them — same 4MP sensor, same motorised lens, same analytics, same housing. More LEDs, more reach, slightly more power draw.
| Model | IR LEDs | Reach | PoE draw |
|---|---|---|---|
| DS-2CD2346G3-IZ2UY turret | — | 30 m | 9.5 W |
| DS-2CD2T46G3-2IZY bullet | 2 | 60 m | 11.5 W |
| DS-2CD2T46G3-4IZY | 4 | 80 m | 12.5 W |
A long yard, a car park, a field boundary, the far end of an industrial estate — anywhere a 60m camera leaves a dark band at the edge of frame. It is also the right choice where the camera has to sit high and look a long way down a run.
Eighty metres of infrared means the camera can see that far. It does not mean you will identify anyone there. Hikvision publishes the DORI figures (EN 62676-4):
| At 2.8mm (wide) | At 4mm (zoomed) | |
|---|---|---|
| Detect — something is there | 66.6 m | 79.2 m |
| Observe — what it is | 26.4 m | 31.4 m |
| Recognise — someone you know | 13.3 m | 15.8 m |
| Identify — a stranger, to evidential standard | 6.7 m | 7.9 m |
The infrared now out-reaches the detection range. At 2.8mm the IR throws 80m but detection tops out around 66m — so the extra light is buying you a brighter, cleaner image across the whole detection zone rather than extra distance. That is a real benefit, just not the one the headline number suggests.
Practical consequence: use this to watch a large area, and put a second camera where people actually pass — a gate, a door, a till — if you need to identify them. Our IP camera buying guide explains how to plan that.
Deep-learning classification runs on the camera itself, separating people and vehicles from leaves, headlights, rain and animals. It supports line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and region exit, each able to trigger on humans or vehicles specifically, plus face capture — so alarms fire for things that matter and recordings can be searched by object type.
The card slot takes up to 512GB. With ANR the camera keeps recording locally if the link to the NVR fails, then back-fills the gap when it returns. With a high-end Hikvision card it also supports card encryption and health detection.
The zoom range is narrow. 2.8–4mm is wide-angle at both ends. If you need detail at distance rather than coverage, a 2.8–12mm model suits better — ask us.
Check your PoE budget. At 12.5W per camera, eight of these need a switch or NVR that can actually deliver 100W across its ports.
It is a large camera — 287mm and over a kilogram. Check the mounting surface.
The number of infrared LEDs — four against two, giving 80 metres of reach instead of 60. Everything else is identical.
No. The infrared reaches 80m, but identification happens at under 7 metres and recognition at about 13. The long IR gives you a brighter image across the whole scene rather than identification at distance.
No. Hikvision lists no built-in microphone on this model. The G3 turret has two.
Up to 12.5W on 802.3af Class 3. Worth checking your switch budget if you are running several.
Corrosion resistance. The Y in the model number is Hikvision's code for anti-corrosion coating — worth having near the coast, on farms, or anywhere with salt or chemicals about.
