The Hikvision DS-2CD2T46G3-2IZY is the long-range bullet in the G3 family — the same 4MP AcuSense sensor as the turret, but with 60 metres of infrared instead of 30.
The turret version of this camera reaches 30 metres in the dark. This reaches 60. On a yard, a long driveway, a car park or a fence line, that is the difference between seeing the far end and not.
The bullet body is also the reason it can: there is simply more room for LEDs, and the housing dissipates the heat they make. It is a substantial camera at 287mm long and 1.165kg, all metal including the bracket — noticeable on a house frontage, unmissable as a deterrent on a commercial one.
Long infrared tells you the camera can see at 60 metres. It does not mean you will identify anyone there. The DORI figures (EN 62676-4) are what matter, and Hikvision publishes them:
| At 2.8mm (wide) | At 4mm (zoomed) | |
|---|---|---|
| Detect — something is there | 66.6 m | 79.2 m |
| Observe — what it is | 26.4 m | 31.4 m |
| Recognise — someone you know | 13.3 m | 15.8 m |
| Identify — a stranger, to evidential standard | 6.7 m | 7.9 m |
So the 60m IR matches the detection range almost exactly — sensible engineering. But identification still happens under eight metres, as it does on every 4MP camera. Use this one to watch the far end of a yard, and put a second camera at the gate if you need to identify who comes through it.
Some retailers list this camera with dual microphones and an active strobe. Those belong to other models in the range: Hikvision's specification for this one lists built-in microphone as not applicable and flashing light as not applicable, and its own feature summary makes no mention of either.
If you need audio, the DS-2CD2346G3-IZ2UY turret has two microphones. If you need a strobe and siren, ask us and we will point you at a model that genuinely has them. We would rather tell you now than have it arrive without.
Deep-learning classification runs on the camera itself, separating people and vehicles from leaves, headlights, rain and animals — so alarms fire for things that matter, and recordings can be searched by object type. It supports line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and region exit, each able to trigger on humans or vehicles specifically, plus face capture.
The card slot takes up to 512GB. With ANR, the camera keeps recording locally if the link to the NVR fails and back-fills the gap when it returns. With a high-end Hikvision card it also supports card encryption and health detection.
The zoom range is narrow. 2.8–4mm is wide-angle at both ends. If you need to see detail at distance rather than cover width, a 2.8–12mm model suits better — ask us.
There is an 80m version. The DS-2CD2T46G3-4IZY is the same camera with longer infrared, if 60m is not enough.
It is a large camera. 287mm long and over a kilogram — check the mounting surface and, on a domestic frontage, whether you want something this visible.
The infrared reaches 60 metres. You will detect movement at roughly that distance, recognise someone you know at about 13 metres, and identify a stranger at under 7.
No. Hikvision's specification lists no built-in microphone on this model, despite some listings claiming otherwise. The G3 turret does have two.
No — flashing light is listed as not applicable. If you need active deterrence, ask and we will recommend a model that has it.
Infrared range: 60 metres on this one, 80 metres on the 4IZY. Everything else is the same.
Yes — ONVIF Profile S, G and T are supported. Hikvision recorders integrate most fully and are needed for some analytics.
