Video Input and Transmission
The kit we recommend for most homes and small businesses: a 4K-capable PoE NVR with 4MP turret cameras. 4MP records roughly twice the detail of 1080p — enough to read a number plate at the end of a drive or recognise a face across a shop — and the NVR records up to 8MP per channel, so cameras added later won’t be held back. One Cat5e/Cat6 cable per camera; everything viewed on the HiLookVision or Hik-Connect app. Choose the camera count for the positions you need to cover — 4-channel kits take up to four cameras, 8-channel kits up to eight; buy 8-channel if there’s any chance you’ll add more. Night vision is 30m infrared. For colour at night, swap in or add ColorVu 3.0 turrets; for the budget option, the 2MP IP kits.
Yes — the NVR records up to 8MP per channel, so any HiLook or Hikvision IP camera can be added up to the channel count.
No — recording is local and the app is free.
Not unless cameras are more than 100m from the NVR or you exceed its ports — the NVR powers the kit cameras directly.
