The Hikvision DS-PWA64-Kit1-WE is a complete AX PRO wireless intruder alarm in one box, built around a 64-zone panel and controlled by two key fobs.

Exactly what is in the box

Kit 1 or Kit 2? One component apart

The two kits are identical except for how you arm and disarm:

• This kit gives you two key fobs — arm and disarm from your pocket, on the way in or out. Best where a small number of people use the system and nobody wants to stop at a panel.
• Kit 2 gives you one keypad instead — better where several people need access, where staff come and go, or where you want tag or code entry rather than a fob that can be lost.

Panel, sounder, both PIRs and the door contact are the same in each. You can add either component to either kit later.

The panel is the part that matters

The DS-PWA64-L-WE is a serious piece of kit rather than a consumer hub:

• 64 zones and 16 areas — one system can protect a house, a garage and an outbuilding as separately armed areas
• 30 users, 32 tags and 32 key fobs
• 8 keypads, 4 sounders (2 internal, 2 external), 2 repeaters and 4 multi-transmitters
• 5,000-event memory log
• Away and stay arming, automatic arm/disarm timers, and forced arming with open zones

Three ways to stay connected

Wired ethernet, Wi-Fi and GPRS are all on board, with a SIM slot. A cut phone line or a dropped broadband connection does not take the system offline — it falls back.

Radio runs at 868 MHz with frequency hopping and AES-128 encryption. The 868 band is reserved for alarms in the UK, so it is far less congested than the 433 MHz used by cheaper systems, and the encryption makes replay attacks impractical.

For professional installers

It reports to an Alarm Receiving Centre over SIA DC09 (SIA Level 2 and Contact ID), ISUP and ISAPI, with Hik-IP Receiver and Hik-IP Receiver Pro (Sur-Gard and Ademco 685 emulation). Video verification and remote control are supported, so an operator can see what triggered an alarm before dispatching.

Programming is via Hik-Connect, Hik-ProConnect, the web portal, iVMS-4200 or Convergence Cloud, with a separate installer app and offline web configuration. Diagnostics run from the app.

Up to 48 of the 64 zones can be PIRCAMs — PIR detectors with a built-in camera, so an alarm arrives with a photograph of what caused it.

Worth knowing before you order

The panel is indoor only, rated −10°C to +55°C. Site it inside the protected area, not in an unheated garage.

The 12-hour battery is a backup, not a power source, and it drops considerably in the cold.

Key fobs can be lost. If several people need access, or if you would rather not manage fobs, Kit 2 with the keypad is the better starting point — and you can add fobs to it later.

ARC monitoring is a separate service. The panel supports it; the contract is with a monitoring provider.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Kit 1 and Kit 2?

One component. Kit 1 includes two key fobs; Kit 2 includes one keypad. Panel, sounder, two PIRs and the door contact are identical.

Can I expand it later?

What happens if the broadband drops?

It falls back to Wi-Fi or GPRS over the SIM. Wired, wireless and mobile paths are all on board.

Is 868 MHz better than 433 MHz?

Can it be monitored professionally?
