This is the black version of Hikvision's 4 MP G3 AcuSense turret. Electronically identical to the white model: a motorised 2.8–4 mm lens set remotely from software after mounting, 130 dB WDR, two built-in microphones, and — unusually for this range — a gigabit Ethernet port. Only the finish differs.

The only gigabit camera in the range

Worth calling out, because every other camera in this catalogue — including the 4K and 12 MP models — has a 10/100 port. This one is 10/100/1000.

At an 8 Mbps stream ceiling that makes no difference to a single camera. Where it does matter is on a switch or NVR handling many channels, and on future-proofing: a gigabit port negotiates cleanly on modern infrastructure and removes any question of the camera being the bottleneck. If your installs are moving to gigabit switching, this is the model that matches.

Read the lens range carefully

The zoom is 2.8 to 4 mm — a short range, not the 2.8–12 mm of the larger varifocals. DORI at 2.8 mm is detect 66.6 m, observe 26.4 m, recognise 13.3 m, identify 6.7 m; at 4 mm, detect 79.2 m, identify 7.9 m. So the gain across the whole zoom is about a metre of identification distance.

It exists so an installer can fine-tune the framing from a laptop instead of swapping lenses or returning to site. Specify it for mounting flexibility, not reach — for reach, the 2.8–12 mm models are the answer.

Why specify black

Against a dark soffit, a black shopfront fascia, exposed steelwork or a slate ceiling, a black turret effectively disappears where a white one draws the eye. Where the camera is meant to be seen as a deterrent, white does that better.

130 dB WDR, and an honest note on low light

Dynamic range is 130 dB, above the 120 dB of the G2H AcuSense range — useful for doorways and shutter openings shot into strong backlight. But the aperture is F1.6 on a 1/3" sensor, so minimum illumination is 0.001 lux, the same as the G2H turrets rather than better. And the infrared reaches 30 m against 66.6 m of detection range.

Choose this for difficult contrast and flexible mounting, not for the darkest scenes.

What it has, and what it doesn't

Two built-in microphones. No speaker, no strobe, and no alarm or audio terminal block — Ethernet, microSD and reset key are the only physical interfaces. For a strobe and siren, the IZS2UY/SL version adds both.

With a high-end Hikvision card it supports memory card encryption and health detection — worth knowing where edge recording holds evidential footage.

Is the black version any different to the white one?

Only the finish. Sensor, lens, analytics, ratings and power draw are identical.

Does the gigabit port make a practical difference?

Not to a single camera at 8 Mbps. It matters on gigabit switching infrastructure and removes the camera as a future bottleneck — every other model in this range is 10/100.

How much does the zoom give me?

2.8 to 4 mm, roughly a metre of extra identification distance. It is for remote framing, not reach.

Does it have a siren?

No — microphones only. The IZS2UY/SL version adds a strobe and audible warning.
