This is the black version of Hikvision's 4 MP G3 AcuSense deterrence mini bullet. A motorised 2.8–4 mm lens set remotely from software, 130 dB WDR, two built-in microphones, a white strobe and a 110 dB siren — in a 515 g housing just 74 mm across. Only the finish differs from the white model.

Remote framing and deterrence in a very small body

This is the smallest camera in the catalogue that combines both. Motorised zoom normally means a full-size bullet; a 110 dB siren normally means a larger housing again. Here you get a camera an installer can frame from a laptop after mounting, that also warns intruders off, at Ø74.4 mm.

For a domestic frontage, a shop fascia or anywhere a full-size deterrence bullet would look heavy-handed, that matters more than the spec sheet suggests.

A black camera with a white strobe

Worth stating, because the two pull opposite ways. The housing is black so the camera sits quietly against a dark soffit, fascia or steelwork. The strobe is still white light — that is what /SL denotes, and body colour does not change it. A red-and-blue police-style strobe is the /SRB model.

Read the lens range carefully

The zoom is 2.8 to 4 mm — short, not the 2.8–12 mm of the larger varifocals. DORI at 2.8 mm is detect 66.6 m, identify 6.7 m; at 4 mm, detect 79.2 m, identify 7.9 m. That is about a metre of extra identification distance across the whole range.

It exists so an installer can fine-tune framing remotely rather than swap lenses or return to site. Specify it for mounting flexibility, not reach.

The power cost of the strobe

It needs 802.3at Class 4, max. 16 W, where the plain DS-2CD2046G3-IZ2UY runs on 802.3af at just 7.5 W — more than double the draw for the same sensor and lens. The strobe and speaker account for all of it, and on a recorder with a fixed PoE budget that decides how many deterrence models fit.

130 dB WDR, and an honest note on low light

Dynamic range is 130 dB, above the 120 dB of the G2H AcuSense range. But the aperture is F1.6 on a 1/3" sensor, so minimum illumination is 0.001 lux — the same as the G2H turrets, not better. Choose this for difficult contrast and flexible mounting, not for the darkest scenes.

Frequently asked questions

Is the black version any different to the white one?

Only the housing finish. Sensor, lens, strobe, siren and power draw are identical.

Is the strobe black too?

No — the flashing light is white regardless of body colour. That is what /SL denotes.

Will it run on an 802.3af switch?

No. It needs 802.3at at up to 16 W. The plain IZ2UY version runs on af at 7.5 W.

How much does the zoom give me?

2.8 to 4 mm — about a metre of extra identification distance. It is for remote framing, not reach.
