This is the black version of Hikvision's 12 MP active-deterrence turret. Electronically it is identical to the white model: a 1/1.8" sensor at 4608 × 2592, 130 dB WDR, AcuSense classification, arrayed dual microphones, and a white strobe with an audible warning that fire on an event. Only the finish differs.

AcuSense deep-learning classification separates people and vehicles from foliage, rain, shadows and animals, so line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and region exiting trigger only on real targets. Face capture is supported.

The loudest camera in the range

Its speaker is rated 110 dB at 10 cm. For comparison, the 8 MP G2H strobe turrets manage 105 dB and the PTRZ domes 97 dB. Only the DS-2CD2T86G2H-IS2U/SL bullet goes higher at 120 dB. If the point of the camera is to be heard across a yard rather than just at a doorway, that figure matters more than most of the spec sheet.

Deterrence runs off the camera's own event rules, so it works on a standalone install with no recorder involved.

Twelve megapixels — what it buys, and what it costs

At 2.8 mm the DORI figures are detect 117 m, observe 46 m, recognise 23 m, identify 11 m — against 89 m and 8 m on the 8 MP G2H turret in the same body. Identification reaches roughly 40% further, and there is enough resolution to crop into recorded footage and still have something usable.

Two honest caveats:

• The aperture is F1.6, not F1.0. Every G2H model in this catalogue uses F1.0. Hikvision still quote 0.0008 lux because the sensor is large and DarkFighter compensates, but this is not the camera to choose purely for low light.
• Full resolution runs at 20 fps, not 25. You get 25 fps at 3840 × 2160.

Storage also rises: a 24 Mbps ceiling against 16 Mbps on the 8 MP models, so budget around 50% more disk per camera.

A black camera with a white strobe

The housing is black so the camera sits discreetly against a dark soffit or fascia. The strobe is still white light — that is what /SL denotes, and it is unaffected by body colour. If you need a red-and-blue police-style strobe, that is the /SRB model, not this one. Where the camera is meant to be seen as a deterrent at all times, the white housing does that better.

Frequently asked questions

Is the black version any different to the white one?

Only the housing finish. Sensor, lens, analytics, strobe, audio and power draw are identical.

Is the strobe black too?

No — the flashing light is white regardless of body colour. That is what /SL denotes.

How loud is the siren?

110 dB at 10 cm — the loudest turret in this range, and second only to the 8 MP DS-2CD2T86G2H-IS2U/SL bullet at 120 dB.

Will my recorder handle 12 MP?

Check before ordering. Many NVRs cap per-channel resolution at 8 MP, and a 24 Mbps stream needs headroom in the recorder's total bandwidth budget.
