This is the black version of Hikvision's 4K G2H dome. Electronically it is identical to the white model, and that model is the strongest camera in the whole G2H range on two counts: it has the widest dynamic range and the longest identification distance. A 1/1.8" sensor at 3840 × 2160 behind an F1.0 lens, in an IP67 / IK10 aluminium alloy housing. Only the finish differs.
AcuSense deep-learning classification separates people and vehicles from foliage, rain, shadows and animals, so line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and region exiting trigger only on real targets. Face capture is supported.
Against a dark soffit, a black shopfront fascia, exposed steelwork or a slate ceiling, a black dome effectively disappears where a white one draws the eye. Architects and shopfitters routinely specify black for this reason, and on a design-led or heritage frontage the finish can decide whether a scheme is approved at all.
The reverse holds too: where the camera is meant to be seen as a deterrent, white does that job better. Black is for coverage without visual intrusion — which pairs naturally with the IK10 rating, since a camera mounted within reach is often one you would rather people did not notice.
Every other G2H camera is rated at 120 dB. This one is 130 dB. That extra stop of dynamic range is aimed at the hardest scene in most buildings: a doorway or shutter shot from inside, where the interior is dim and the daylight behind the subject is thousands of times brighter. It is the difference between a silhouette and a face.
At 2.8 mm the field of view is 105.1° horizontal, 54.8° vertical, 128.2° diagonal, and the DORI figures are detect 89 m, observe 35 m, recognise 17 m, identify 8 m — against 6 to 7 m on the 4 MP models in the same family. The 4 mm version narrows the view to 90° and pushes identification to about 10 m.
Mind the standoff: minimum focus is 3.3 m. Mounted directly above a doorway at head height the image will be soft. And the infrared reaches 30 m against an 89 m detection range, so after dark the illuminator is the limit rather than the optics.
The alarm output is rated maximum 12 VDC, 30 mA — far below the 24 VDC / 1 A outputs on the bullets and PTRZ domes in this family. Thirty milliamps will drive a logic input or a small relay coil. It will not drive a sounder, a strike or a lamp directly. Put an interposing relay between the two if the camera needs to switch a real load.
Only the finish. Sensor, lens, analytics, ratings and power draw are identical.
About 8 m at this 2.8 mm lens, or 10 m at 4 mm — the longest reach in the G2H family.
Roughly an extra stop of range between the brightest and darkest parts of a frame. It matters most shooting into daylight from inside a building.
Not directly. It is a 12 VDC, 30 mA signalling contact, so it needs a relay module.
