Who is the IPC-T250H-MU for?

The 5MP step-up from HiLook’s IR range: more than twice the pixel detail of 1080p, a built-in microphone, and 120dB true WDR that copes with a bright doorway or headlights behind the subject. It is the camera to pick when the footage has to identify — a face at a till, a plate on a drive — rather than just show that something happened, and when you want sound recorded too. Night vision is 30m infrared (black and white). For colour at night at a similar price, look at the 4MP IPC-T249HAA-LU ColorVu 3.0. A grey version is available for darker facades.

What you’ll need with it

• A PoE NVR that records 5MP or above — the NVR-104H-D/4P or NVR-108H-D/8P (4K). A 4MP-limited recorder would downscale it.
• Enable audio on the channel in the NVR menu to record sound.
• The free HiLookVision or Hik-Connect app.

Frequently asked questions

What does WDR do?

Wide Dynamic Range balances very bright and very dark areas in the same frame — a person standing in a sunlit doorway, for example — so neither is washed out or lost in shadow. 120dB is the professional-grade figure.

Is the night vision in colour?

No, infrared. Choose a ColorVu model for colour after dark.

Will a 4MP NVR record it?

It will connect but record at 4MP. Use a 4K (8MP) recorder for the full 5MP.
