Dahua IPC-HDBW2421R-ZS/VFS — 4MP 2K IR Night Vision Dome IP CCTV Camera
The Dahua IPC-HDBW2421R-ZS/VFS (written DH-IPC-HDBW2421R-ZS/VFS in Dahua's datasheet) is a 4MP (2K) waterproof WDR IR dome IP CCTV camera, which Dahua calls a network camera. It has a 2.7mm to 12mm varifocal lens, infrared night vision up to 30m and true WDR (120dB), is rated IP67 and IK10, is powered over PoE (802.3af) and supports ONVIF. Dahua lists it in its Lite Series.
Also listed as DH-IPC-HDBW2421R-ZS/VFS.
Key features
- 4MP (2688 × 1520) image from a 1/3" progressive CMOS sensor at up to 20fps, or 2M (1920 × 1080) at up to 25/30fps.
- 2.7mm to 12mm varifocal lens, F1.4, with a horizontal angle of view of 100° to 35°. Focus control is motorised on the -ZS version and manual on the -VFS version.
- IR night vision up to 30m. Smart IR adjusts the LED intensity so close objects do not white out.
- True WDR (120dB), Day/Night (ICR), BLC, HLC and 3D noise reduction.
- Smart H.264+ and H.264 dual-stream encoding. Dahua says Smart H.264+ saves up to 70% of bandwidth and storage compared with standard H.264.
- Micro SD card slot up to 128GB, plus NAS storage.
- IP67 dust and water protection and IK10 impact resistance, working from -30 °C to +60 °C.
- ONVIF, PSIA and CGI interoperability.

Common questions
Is this a 4MP or a 2K camera?
Both. The sensor is 4MP with an effective 2688 × 1520 image, which is the 2K class, at up to 20fps. It can also stream 2M (1920 × 1080) at up to 25/30fps.
Is the zoom motorised or manual?
Dahua's datasheet covers both versions of this camera: focus control is motorised on the -ZS version and manual on the -VFS version. Call us on 01902 902251 before ordering if you need a particular version.
How far does the night vision reach?
Dahua lists infrared up to 30m (98ft), with Smart IR adjusting the LED intensity so objects do not white out as they come closer.
Does it need a separate power supply?
Dahua lists the power supply as DC12V PoE (802.3af), Class 0, with consumption below 9.75 W, so it can be powered from a PoE network video recorder or PoE switch.
Can it be used as an outdoor IP camera?
Yes. Dahua rates it IP67 and IK10 with a working range of -30 °C to +60 °C, and says it suits indoor or outdoor use.
Can it record without a recorder?
It has a micro SD card slot for up to 128GB of edge storage, and also supports NAS storage.
Is it an ONVIF camera that works with a recorder that is not Dahua?
Dahua lists ONVIF, PSIA and CGI support, so it can be added to compatible third-party recorders.
