The RG-CS83-48GT4XS-P is a 48-port gigabit Layer 3 managed access switch. Every RJ45 port supplies PoE/PoE+ (IEEE 802.3af/at), four 1G/10G SFP+ ports handle the uplinks, and the power supply is built in.
What the RG-CS83-48GT4XS-P is for
Ruijie position the RG-CS83-48GT4XS-P for gigabit access, naming business systems such as medical care, libraries and exhibition centres. All 48 RJ45 ports run at 10/100/1000 Mbps and can supply PoE/PoE+, so one switch can connect wired devices and powered devices together.
Each PoE port supplies up to 30 W, and the switch has a maximum PoE output of 405 W in total. That covers 13 devices at the full 30 W, or more where devices draw less, so add up the draw of every powered device before you rely on all 48 ports. As a Layer 3 switch it also routes, with up to 6,000 IPv4 and 2,000 IPv6 unicast routes.
The PoE ports stop at 30 W, so a device that needs more than 30 W (IEEE 802.3bt, PoE++) is outside what this switch supplies. If you need a larger PoE budget across 48 ports, the RG-CS83-48GT4XS-PD takes pluggable power modules and its PoE budget is set by the modules fitted, and our PoE switches range has other options.

What you will need
Nothing extra is needed for power: the supply is built in and takes 100 V to 240 V AC. Add up the draw of every powered device and keep the total within the 405 W PoE budget, and check that each device uses standard PoE (802.3af/at), as passive PoE is not 802.3af/at. The four 1G/10G SFP+ ports need SFP or SFP+ modules or cables to be used, and a 1G SFP module will not run at 10G. Use network cable suited to gigabit links on the RJ45 ports.

How many devices can the RG-CS83-48GT4XS-P power over PoE?
All 48 RJ45 ports support PoE/PoE+ (IEEE 802.3af/at), each supplying up to 30 W, but the maximum total PoE output is 405 W. That is enough for 13 devices drawing the full 30 W, or more devices that draw less.
Does the RG-CS83-48GT4XS-P have a built-in power supply?
Yes. Ruijie list one fixed power supply with a 460 W maximum output and a 100 V to 240 V AC input. It uses a single fixed supply, so there are no pluggable power modules to buy.
Can the SFP+ ports on the RG-CS83-48GT4XS-P run at 10G?
The four SFP+ ports are listed as 1GE/10GE, so the module you fit sets the speed. A 1G SFP module will not run at 10G. Tell us the switch model at the other end and we will check the module.
Is the RG-CS83-48GT4XS-P a Layer 3 switch?
Yes, Ruijie describe it as a Layer 3 managed access switch. The specification lists 6,000 IPv4 unicast routes, 2,000 IPv6 unicast routes and VSU with up to 4 members.
Does the RG-CS83-48GT4XS-P support PoE++ (802.3bt) devices?
