The RG-CS85-24GT8XS-D is a Layer 3 switch that Ruijie position as an aggregation switch for large-sized networks, or a core switch for small and medium-sized networks. It has 24 gigabit RJ45 ports, eight 1G/10G SFP+ ports, and slots for one expansion module and two power modules.

What the RG-CS85-24GT8XS-D is for

Ruijie describe the RG-CS85-24GT8XS-D as an aggregation switch for large-sized networks, or a core switch for small and medium-sized networks. The 24 RJ45 ports run at 10/100/1000 Mbps, and the eight SFP+ ports, which Ruijie list as its 10GE uplinks, run at 1G or 10G depending on the module fitted.

Switching capacity is 688 Gbps with a 512 Mpps forwarding rate. As a Layer 3 switch it holds up to 24,000 IPv4 and 14,000 IPv6 unicast routes, 64,000 MAC address entries and 24,000 ARP entries, and VSU supports up to 4 members.

The switch is modular. The expansion slot takes the CM85-4XS2CQ module, which adds 4 x 1G/10G SFP+ ports and 2 x 40G/100G QSFP28 ports, and two power module slots take RG-PA150IB-F modules for 1+1 redundancy when both are fitted. Ruijie's specification lists no PoE on this model.

What you will need

At least one RG-PA150IB-F power module (150 W, 100 V to 240 V AC input), because Ruijie's ordering line says to purchase at least one; fit a second for 1+1 redundancy. The SFP+ ports need SFP or SFP+ modules or cables to be used, and a 1G SFP module will not run at 10G. Tell us the switches it will connect to and we will check the modules, including any for the CM85-4XS2CQ expansion module.

What does the expansion slot on the RG-CS85-24GT8XS-D add?

It takes the CM85-4XS2CQ module, which has 4 x 1GE/10GE SFP+ ports and 2 x 40GE/100GE QSFP28 ports. Those ports are in addition to the 24 RJ45 and 8 SFP+ ports on the switch itself and only work once the module is installed.

Can the RG-CS85-24GT8XS-D run its SFP+ ports at 10G?

Its eight fixed SFP+ ports are listed as 1GE/10GE, so the module fitted sets the speed. A 1G SFP module will not run at 10G. Tell us the switch model at the other end and we will check the module.

Does the RG-CS85-24GT8XS-D supply PoE?
