This is the 4 mm version of Hikvision's 4 MP G2H dome: an F1.0 lens, AcuSense human and vehicle classification, a built-in microphone, audio and alarm terminals, and an IP67 / IK10 aluminium alloy housing — all in a compact Ø121.5 mm body that is the smallest camera in the G2H range.

AcuSense deep-learning classification separates people and vehicles from foliage, rain, shadows and animals, so line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and region exiting trigger only on real targets. Face capture is supported.

4 mm or 2.8 mm — which to order

Same camera, different lens. At 4 mm the field of view is 81.1° horizontal and the DORI figures are detect 78 m, observe 31 m, recognise 15 m, identify 7 m. At 2.8 mm the view opens to 100.2° but the figures fall to 63 m detect and 6 m identify.

For a dome the choice usually comes down to mounting height and ceiling coverage. The 4 mm suits a higher mount looking along a corridor or forecourt; the 2.8 mm suits a lower ceiling where you want the room covered corner to corner. The 4 mm holds focus from 2.5 m rather than 1.9 m, which matters on a low soffit.

Built for reach — and for being hit

The housing is aluminium alloy, rated IP67 and IK10. IK10 is the top impact class in IEC 62262, tested against a 20 joule strike, which is the rating to specify wherever the camera sits within reach of the public — shop floors, entrance lobbies, school corridors, licensed premises.

Worth knowing the adjustment range is slightly short of a full turn: pan 0° to 355°, rotate 0° to 355°, tilt 0° to 75°. In practice that is ample, but it is not the 360° the turrets in this range offer.

One specification to check before you design around it

The -SU suffix brings a built-in microphone, audio line in and line out, and an alarm input and output. But the alarm output is rated at maximum 12 VDC, 30 mA — far lower than the 24 VDC / 1 A outputs on the bullets and PTRZ domes in the same family.

30 mA will drive a logic input or a small relay coil. It will not drive a sounder, a strike or a lamp directly. If the plan is for the camera to switch a real load, you need an interposing relay between the two.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 4 mm better than the 2.8 mm?

Not better, different. It sees further with more detail over a narrower field. For wide coverage from a low ceiling, the 2.8 mm is the right choice.

What does IK10 mean in practice?

It is the highest impact class in IEC 62262, tested against a 20 joule strike — the rating to specify where the camera is within reach.

Can the alarm output drive a siren?

Not directly. It is rated at 12 VDC, 30 mA, so it needs an interposing relay to switch any real load.

Will it work on a third-party NVR?

It supports ONVIF Profile S, T and G, so it will record on most ONVIF recorders. AcuSense classification is best supported on Hikvision recorders.
