This is the 4 mm version of Hikvision's 4 MP G2H turret: AcuSense human and vehicle classification, DarkFighter low-light performance, a built-in microphone and 30 m of infrared in a compact all-metal IP67 housing. At 550 g and 138 mm across it is the smallest and lightest camera in the G2H range, and the cheapest to power.
AcuSense deep-learning classification separates people and vehicles from foliage, rain, shadows and animals, so line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and region exiting trigger only on real targets. Face capture is supported.
Same camera, different lens. At 4 mm the field of view is 81.1° horizontal and the DORI figures are detect 78 m, observe 31 m, recognise 15 m, identify 7 m. At 2.8 mm the view widens to 100.2° but the figures fall to 63 m detect and 6 m identify.
Choose 4 mm where the camera looks along a length — a driveway, a side passage, a car park aisle — and you want usable detail further out. Choose 2.8 mm for breadth close in, such as a shop floor or a yard corner. The 4 mm also holds focus from 2.5 m rather than 1.9 m, so it is the weaker choice for anything mounted close to its subject, such as a doorway at head height.
Be realistic about the infrared, though: it reaches 30 m where the 4 mm lens detects to 78 m. In darkness this camera's useful range is set by the illuminator, not the optics. For a genuinely long unlit view, the bullet models in this range carry 60 m or 80 m IR.
The -IU suffix means a built-in microphone — audio is recorded alongside video with no extra hardware. What it does not have is a speaker, a strobe, or any alarm or audio terminal block. Its physical interfaces are the Ethernet port, the microSD slot and the reset key.
Maximum 9 W over 802.3af Class 3. That is the lowest draw of anything in the G2H family — the deterrence models need 802.3at at 18 W, twice as much. On a recorder with a fixed PoE budget shared across every port, that difference decides how many cameras the machine will actually run.
Not better, different. It sees further with more detail over a narrower field. For close, wide coverage the 2.8 mm is the right choice.
Yes — the -IU has a built-in microphone. Check that recording audio is lawful and signposted for your site before enabling it.
Not on its own. There is no speaker and no alarm output. The IS2U/SL version in this range adds a strobe and an audible warning.
It supports ONVIF Profile S, T and G, so it will record on most ONVIF recorders. AcuSense classification is best supported on Hikvision recorders.
