This is the black version of Hikvision's 6 MP G2H turret. Electronically it is identical to the white model: a 1/2.4" sensor at 3200 × 1800, an F1.0 lens, AcuSense classification, a built-in microphone and 30 m of infrared. Only the finish differs.
AcuSense deep-learning classification separates people and vehicles from foliage, rain, shadows and animals, so line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and region exiting trigger only on real targets. Face capture is supported.
At 2.8 mm this camera sees 114.8° horizontally and 143.5° diagonally — wider than any other fixed-lens camera in the G2H family. The 4 MP models manage 100.2° and the 8 MP models 108.8°.
That matters where a single camera has to cover a whole room, a yard corner or a forecourt from a tight mounting position. It also focuses closer than its siblings, holding sharpness from 1.7 m against 1.9 m on the 4 MP and 3.3 m on the 8 MP — so it works mounted low and close, where the 8 MP models go soft.
The trade-off is reach. DORI at 2.8 mm is detect 64 m, observe 25 m, recognise 12 m, identify 6 m, roughly the same as the 4 MP despite the extra pixels, because they are spread across a wider field. A 4 mm version narrows the view to 94° and pushes identification to about 7 m.
Against a dark soffit, a black shopfront fascia, exposed steelwork or a slate ceiling, a black turret effectively disappears where a white one draws the eye. Shopfitters and architects often specify it for that reason. Where the camera is meant to be seen as a deterrent, white does the job better — black is for coverage without visual intrusion.
Maximum 8 W over 802.3af Class 3 — the same draw as the 8 MP model in this range, and less than the 4 MP version which needs 9 W. The strobe-and-siren models require 802.3at at 18 W. On a recorder with a fixed PoE budget shared across every port, that is the difference between filling the machine and running short.
The -IU suffix means a built-in microphone — audio recorded alongside video with no extra hardware. There is no speaker, no strobe, and no alarm or audio terminal block. Ethernet port, microSD slot and reset key are its only physical interfaces.
Only the finish. Sensor, lens, analytics, ratings and power draw are identical.
For the field of view. At 114.8° it is the widest fixed lens in the range, and it focuses closer than the 8 MP models, so it suits tight mounting positions covering a broad area.
Yes — the -IU has a built-in microphone. Check that recording audio is lawful and signposted for your site before enabling it.
It supports ONVIF Profile S, T and G, so it will record on most ONVIF recorders. AcuSense classification is best supported on Hikvision recorders.
