The Hikvision DS-PDP15P-EG2-WE(B) is the pet-immune PIR detector for the AX PRO range — 15 metres of coverage across 90 degrees, ignoring animals up to 30 kilograms.

Pet immunity that actually works

The P in the model number is the pet-immune variant, and 30kg is a genuinely useful threshold — it covers most dogs, not just cats. The detector uses 84 detection zones and digital signal processing to distinguish an animal moving at floor level from a person.

Three sensitivity settings — High, Auto and Pet — let you tune it to the room rather than accept one compromise.

This is the single most common cause of false alarms in a domestic system, and a false alarm that repeats is a system that gets switched off.

Built to avoid the other false-alarm causes

• White light filter to 6,500 lux — headlights sweeping a window will not trigger it
• Digital temperature compensation — sensitivity holds steady as the room warms or cools, rather than drifting on a hot afternoon
• Sealed optics — dust and insects cannot reach the sensor, a common cause of nuisance triggers as a detector ages
• Creep zone protection — covers the area directly beneath the detector, so it cannot be defeated by staying close to the wall

Five years on one battery

A single CR123A lithium cell gives up to five years of standby. On a system with a dozen detectors that is the difference between an annual battery round and a visit once every few years.

Radio built for alarms

Tri-X two-way wireless at 868 MHz with AES-128 encryption and frequency hopping, with a free-space range of 1.6 km. Two-way means the panel confirms receipt rather than hoping — a one-way detector cannot tell you it failed to report.

Enrolment is by power-up, remote ID or QR code, so commissioning does not mean typing serial numbers.

Tamper protection front and rear

Both the cover and the backplate are monitored, so removing the detector from the wall raises an alarm as surely as opening it does.

There are also environment temperature and signal strength indicators, which make siting far quicker — you can see whether a position has adequate signal before you fix the bracket.

Worth knowing before you order

Indoor only, −10°C to +55°C. Not for a porch, a garage that freezes, or any external position.

Mounting height matters. Between 1.8 m and 2.4 m — too low and the pet immunity stops working properly, too high and the creep zone opens up.

It needs an AX PRO panel. This is a wireless detector for the AX PRO system, not a standalone device and not compatible with other manufacturers' panels.

Two of these are already included in Kit 1 and Kit 2 — order additional units to cover more rooms, up to the panel's 64 zones.
