CCTV Camera Prices UK: What Cameras, Recorders & Kits Cost (2026)

By Zenith Security Co · UK trade distributor and authorised Hikvision partner · Prices taken 1 November 2026

Short answer: a CCTV camera typically costs £34–£62 for an HD coax model and £109–£240 for an IP model. A complete 4-camera system you fit yourself starts from about £208 for coax or £454 for 4MP IP with colour night vision, including the recorder, a 2TB drive and VAT.

These figures come from the 4,526 products with public prices on our own site on 1 November 2026. We use the middle price (the median: half cost less, half cost more) and the typical range (the middle half of products), so one very cheap or very expensive item doesn't skew the picture. All prices include VAT.

Intruder alarm kits£267£202–£31955

The ranges are wide because each type runs from basic models to specialist ones. For cameras, the biggest factors are resolution, night vision (infrared or colour), the lens (fixed or varifocal) and smart features such as person and vehicle detection.

IP camera prices by resolution

ResolutionMiddle priceTypical rangeCameras
2MP£96£80–£16540
4MP£144£100–£348128
5MP£126£110–£16896
6MP£147£104–£21835
8MP (4K)£184£132–£240126

Moving from 4MP to 4K (8MP) adds about £40 at the middle of the range. 2MP is now mainly found on budget and specialist cameras. If any camera is 5MP or above, make sure your recorder can record it: some budget NVRs are limited to 4MP. Our guide Which HiLook NVR do I need? explains this.

IP camera prices by brand

BrandMiddle priceTypical rangeCameras
HiLook£85£61–£11140
Dahua£197£131–£308195
Uniview£132£100–£192214

HiLook is Hikvision's value range and is the lowest-cost of the three. Part of the gap is the mix: our Dahua and Uniview ranges include more AI, varifocal and PTZ cameras. Most Hikvision-branded prices are shown to trade account holders only, so Hikvision isn't included here.

NVR and DVR prices by number of channels

4-channel£84£104
8-channel£146£205
16-channel£288£376
32-channel–£532

One channel records one camera. Recorders are usually sold without a hard drive. Many NVRs have built-in PoE ports, so one network cable powers each camera and carries the picture.

CCTV kit prices

4 cameras£362£169–£63018
6 cameras£651£380–£89515

Most kits we sell are HiLook CCTV kits, from 1080p coax to 4MP ColorVu IP. A kit pairs the cameras with a matched recorder; the drive is an option on each kit page.

What else to budget for

  • Cable: network cable for IP cameras, or coax and power for HD analogue cameras.
  • Brackets and junction boxes: often needed for neat outdoor mounting.
  • A screen for setup: any HDMI monitor or TV; day to day most people use the phone app.
  • Installation: not included in any price on this page. It depends on your building, the cable runs and how many cameras you have, so get a quote from a local installer.

Questions

How much does a CCTV camera cost in the UK?

On 1 November 2026, the middle price of the 528 products in our IP camera range with public prices was £156 inc VAT, and half cost between £109–£240. HD analogue (coax) cameras are cheaper: middle price £44.

How much does a 4-camera CCTV system cost?

Buying the parts yourself, a 4-camera coax system costs about £208 and a 4-camera 4MP IP system with colour night vision about £454, both including a 2TB drive and VAT. Ready-made 4-camera kits had a middle price of £362. Cable, brackets and installation are extra.

Is 4K CCTV much more expensive than 4MP?

Not by much. The middle price of a 4MP IP camera was £144 and of an 8MP (4K) camera £184. Check the recorder too: some budget NVRs record only up to 4MP.

Are HiLook cameras cheaper than Dahua or Uniview?

Usually. The middle price of HiLook IP cameras was £85, against £132 for Uniview and £197 for Dahua. Part of the gap is the mix: our Dahua and Uniview ranges include more specialist AI, varifocal and PTZ models.

Do these prices include installation?

No. These are equipment prices. Zenith Security Co is a supplier, not an installer. Installation cost depends on the building, cable runs and number of cameras, so ask a local installer for a quote.

Do I need a hard drive for my recorder?

Yes. Most NVRs and DVRs are sold without one. A 2TB surveillance drive cost £72 on our site on 1 November 2026, and we can fit and format it to order.
