How to find your kit

Work down the filters on the left. Each choice shrinks the list.

  1. Number of Cameras. Count the ways in: front door, drive, back garden, side gate. Most homes need 3 or 4. A shop usually needs 6 to 8.
  2. Format. Running new cable? Choose IP. One network cable powers each camera and carries the picture. Already have round coax cable from an old system? Choose HD-TVI and reuse it.
  3. Max No. of Channels. This is how many cameras the recorder can take. Might add more later? Pick 8 or 16.
  4. Max Resolution. 1080P is fine for general views. Choose 4MP or more to make out faces and number plates.
  5. Night Vision. ColorVu gives colour at night. IR gives black and white with no visible light. Smart Hybrid does both.
  6. Style and Colour. Turret, bullet or dome, in white or grey. Which shape is best?

IP kits or HD-TVI kits?

IP CCTV kits are the usual choice for a new system. Each camera needs one network cable, up to 100m long. No separate power supplies. Picture quality goes up to 4K.

HD-TVI kits use coax cable. If you already have it from an old system, you can upgrade to HD without running new cable. Many record sound too.

Colour or black and white at night?

  • ColorVu: full colour at night, using a soft white light.
  • IR: black and white, with no visible light.
  • Smart Hybrid: black and white until someone appears, then it switches to colour.
