Hikvision DS-PDC15-EG2-WE(B) AX PRO Wireless Curtain PIR Detector

The Hikvision DS-PDC15-EG2-WE(B) is the AX PRO curtain PIR — instead of watching a whole room, it projects a thin 6.3° vertical beam up to 15 metres across a window, a set of patio doors or a corridor, and alarms only when something crosses that plane.

Perimeter protection with people inside

A standard PIR cannot be armed while a room is occupied — anyone walking around trips it. That is why so many alarms are only ever set when the building is empty, and why they do nothing for the family asleep upstairs or the staff working late.

A curtain detector solves that. Mounted above a window or door, it watches the opening itself, not the room. People can move freely inside; the alarm goes off only when someone comes through the glass or the door. That is what lets you arm the perimeter at night — a "stay" or "sleep" mode that actually protects while you are in.

• Above patio and French doors — the most common forced entry point in a house
• Across a run of ground-floor windows — one beam 15 m long covers several openings on the same wall
• Down a corridor or landing — an intruder has to cross it to reach the bedrooms
• Along a shop's glass frontage — protects the glazing without covering the shop floor

How the beam works

Mounted at 2.4 m to 3.6 m and pointing downward, the 18 detection zones form a narrow sheet. Creep zone protection covers the area directly beneath, so it cannot be slipped past close to the wall. Detectable speed 0.3 to 2 m/s catches a slow, careful climb-through as well as a rush.

Worth knowing before you order

Not pet-immune — and that usually does not matter. It has no pet immunity because a curtain beam is mounted high and pointed at an opening, where animals rarely are. A cat that sleeps on the windowsill in the beam is the exception; site the detector accordingly.

It is not a room detector. A 6.3° beam covers a plane, not a space. Someone already inside the room who does not cross the beam is not detected. Pair it with a standard PIR for full coverage when the building is empty.

What is a curtain PIR for?

Guarding an opening — a window, door or corridor — so the alarm can be armed while people are inside the building.

Can I use it while we are at home?

Yes. That is its main purpose. Assign it to a night or stay arming mode alongside door contacts.

How many windows will one cover?

Everything along a 15 m line on the same wall, provided the beam runs across all of them.

Does it replace a door contact?

No — they complement each other. The contact knows if the door is opened; the curtain knows if someone comes through after the glass is broken.

Will my dog set it off?

Only if the dog crosses the beam. Mounted high across a window, that is rare, but there is no pet immunity as such.

Does it work with other alarm panels?

No. It is a Tri-X 868 MHz device for Hikvision AX PRO panels only.
