How to set up the HiLook app on iPhone and Android

Applies to: HiLook by Hikvision DVRs, NVRs and IP cameras that support Cloud P2P, viewed with the HiLook app on Android or iOS. Menu names change between app versions and recorder firmware, so treat the paths below as a guide.

Quick answer: Install the HiLook app (it used to be called HiLookVision) from Google Play or the App Store and create an account. On the recorder, switch on Cloud P2P and set a verification code. In the app, tap +, scan the QR code on the recorder's screen or label, enter the verification code, and live view opens.

The HiLook app is Hikvision's free mobile app for HiLook equipment. It gives you live view, playback of recordings and motion alerts on your phone. It connects through Cloud P2P, which links the app to your recorder using its serial number, so you do not need to open ports on your router.

Before you start

  • The recorder or camera connected to your router with a network cable and working internet access
  • The device admin password
  • A phone on Android or iOS with the HiLook app installed from the official store
  • A monitor connected to the recorder, or the label on the device showing its QR code and serial number

Step 1: Switch on Cloud P2P on the recorder

On the recorder's local menu, open the network settings. On many HiLook models Cloud P2P is under Configuration > Network > Platform Access; on others it is shown as Cloud P2P.

  1. Tick Enable and accept the terms if asked.
  2. Set a verification code if prompted and write it down. The app asks for it later, and it is used to encrypt your video.
  3. Apply, wait a minute, and check the status reads Online.

Step 2: Create an account and add the device

  1. Open the HiLook app, choose United Kingdom as your region and create an account with your email address or phone number.
  2. Tap + (usually top right) and choose Scan QR code.
  3. Scan the QR code on the recorder's Cloud P2P screen or on the device label. You can type the serial number by hand instead.
  4. Enter the verification code from Step 1 when asked.
  5. Give the device a name you will recognise, such as "Shop DVR", and save.
  6. Tap a camera to start live view.

Step 3: Set up alerts

  1. On the recorder, make sure motion or line-crossing detection is switched on for the cameras you want alerts from, and that the alarm action includes notifying the platform or surveillance centre.
  2. In the app, open the device settings and switch on alarm notifications.
  3. Allow notifications for the HiLook app in your phone's settings. On Android, turn off battery saving for the app; on iPhone, check Focus modes.

Viewing on a PC

HiLook also publishes a free HiLook client for Windows, available from HiLook's own support download page. Add the recorder by its IP address on your network, or through your HiLook account.
