AX PRO is Hikvision's professional wireless intruder alarm range — a grade-2 capable system that installs without chasing walls or lifting floors, yet reports to an Alarm Receiving Centre like a hardwired panel.
Why AX PRO rather than a consumer alarm
The difference is not the app. It is what sits behind it:
- 868 MHz radio — the band reserved for alarm use in the UK, far less congested than the 433 MHz used by DIY systems, with frequency hopping and AES-128 encryption so signals cannot be replayed or jammed casually
- 64 zones and 16 areas on the DS-PWA64 panel — one system can arm a house, a garage and an outbuilding independently
- Three signalling paths — wired ethernet, Wi-Fi and GPRS over a SIM. Cutting the broadband does not take the alarm offline
- ARC ready — SIA DC09 (SIA Level 2 and Contact ID), ISUP and ISAPI, with Hik-IP Receiver support and video verification, so a monitoring operator can see what triggered an alarm before dispatching
- 5,000-event log and 30 individual users, so the record shows who armed or disarmed and when
Where to start
Most installations begin with a kit — panel, detectors, sounder and a means of arming, in one box — and expand from there. The panel supports up to 8 keypads, 4 sounders, 32 key fobs, 32 tags, 2 repeaters and 48 PIRCAMs.
Kit 1 includes two key fobs; Kit 2 includes a keypad with tag reader. Everything else in the two boxes is identical — choose on how people will arm the system, not on price.
PIRCAMs: an alarm with a photograph
Up to 48 of the 64 zones can be PIRCAMs — PIR detectors with a built-in camera. When one triggers, the alarm arrives with an image of what caused it. That is what turns a possible false alarm into a decision, and it is the feature that makes AX PRO worth specifying over a cheaper wireless system.
