CCTV Suppliers & Security Camera Shop for Smethwick

Zenith Security Co. · Trade counter and showroom, Dudley Road, Wolverhampton · Updated 18 September 2026

In short: Smethwick is about nine miles from our counter, roughly twenty-two minutes. Dense terraced streets and small commercial units mean the usual question here isn't which camera — it's how to cover your own property without pointing a lens at the neighbours.

Getting to us from Smethwick

From Cape Hill and Bearwood, the A457 across to the A4123 Birmingham New Road and north through Oldbury and Coseley is the straightest run, then onto Dudley Road. We are at Unit 3, Park View Centre, 243 Dudley Road, WV2 3JU, parking on site — about twenty-two minutes.

Open Monday to Friday 9:00am–4:30pm, Saturday 10:00am–4:00pm. Call 01902 902251 to check stock. More: our Wolverhampton showroom.

Terraced streets: covering your property, not the street

Most Smethwick housing is terraced or small semi, frontage tight to the pavement and a shared entry to the rear. A wide 2.8mm camera on the front will take in the pavement and the houses opposite whether you want it to or not. What we suggest:

  • Mount lower and angle down so the useful part of the frame is your door, path and window rather than the street.
  • Use privacy masking — every HiLook and Hikvision recorder lets you black out areas of the image permanently. Mask neighbouring doors and windows at setup.
  • Consider a narrower lens — a 4mm camera such as the IPC-B149HA-LU sees further down a path and less to the sides than the standard 2.8mm.
  • Put up a sign. If your cameras capture anything beyond your boundary, the ICO expects signage and a sensible approach to what you keep. Their domestic CCTV guidance is worth five minutes before you fit anything.
  • Cover the entry — a dome at the rear where the camera is within reach, since domes hide the lens direction and resist tampering.

Three or four cameras on a 4-channel PoE NVR covers a typical terrace: front door, rear entry, garden, side gate. If cabling through the house is difficult, Wi-Fi cameras need only a power socket.

Shops and small units

For the parades along Cape Hill and the small industrial units off Rolfe Street, the pattern is the same as elsewhere in Sandwell: HD-TVI where coax already exists, IP where it doesn't, and a recorder sized for the retention your insurer asks for. Intruder alarms and access control are stocked alongside.

Trade counter

Installers working Smethwick and Bearwood can open a trade account for trade pricing and same-day collection, plus technical support and product training.

Burglar and intruder alarms in Smethwick

We supply burglar and intruder alarm systems to homes, shops and businesses in Smethwick: wireless alarm kits such as Hikvision AX PRO that go in without cable runs and alert your phone, and wired or hybrid panels and detectors from Texecom, Pyronix, Honeywell and Ajax for larger or existing systems. You can buy direct and fit a wireless kit yourself, or ask us about a qualified trade installer for Smethwick. More: our burglar alarm guide.

Networking and data cabling in Smethwick

CCTV, intercoms and access control all run on the network, so we supply that too for Smethwick: network switches and PoE, Wi-Fi access points, Cat5e and Cat6 cable, racks and patch panels from Excel and Tenda, plus Hikvision PoE switches built for cameras. Tell us the number of devices and the cable distances and we will size it with you. More: networking and data cabling.

Door entry, intercoms and access control in Smethwick

Alongside CCTV we supply access control and door entry for Smethwick: Hikvision video intercoms for houses and blocks of flats (including the 2-wire range that reuses an old intercom's existing cable), Hikvision and Paxton door controllers, card and keypad readers, face-recognition terminals, maglocks and power supplies. Our Hikvision video intercom buying guide explains which system suits which building. Hikvision is a trade product — trade account holders see pricing when logged in, and we quote landlords and property managers by phone or email.

Advice first, a recommended installer if you need one

We are a supplier, not an installer, and that works in your favour. Before you commit to anything we go through the cameras, recorder and app with you, in our Wolverhampton showroom or over the phone, so you know what you are getting and how it will work. You can buy direct from us: ranges such as HiLook cater for end users fitting their own system as well as trade professionals. If you would rather have it fitted, we recommend a qualified trade installer to suit your requirements and your area. Because the equipment comes from us as an authorised partner, warranty and technical support come straight from the source, whoever fits it. More: how our installer recommendations work.
