The Dahua DHI-NVR608-32-4KS2 is a 32 channel 4K H.265 network video recorder (NVR) in a 2U case from Dahua's Ultra series (Dahua's own name: 32 Channel 2U 8HDDs Ultra series Network Video Recorder). It records up to 32 IP cameras at up to 12MP, has 8 SATA III bays with optional RAID, and outputs 4K on both HDMI ports.

Common questions
Is it a 4K NVR?
It outputs 4K (3840 × 2160 at 30 fps) on both HDMI ports and records cameras up to 12MP.
Does it have PoE ports?
Dahua's datasheet lists two RJ-45 Gigabit network ports and no PoE ports, so cameras need a PoE switch or their own power supply.
How many hard drives can it take?
Eight SATA III drives of up to 10TB each (the maximum capacity varies with environment temperature), plus an eSATA port. RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10 are optional.
Can I use cameras from other brands?
Yes. It supports ONVIF (profile T/S/G), and Dahua lists third-party access for Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, Axis, Pelco, Arecont, Canon and more.
What do the AI functions need?
Perimeter protection, face detection, SMD Plus, video metadata, ANPR and stereo analysis are done by the camera, so they need compatible cameras. The datasheet gives the channel count for each function.
What happens if the recorder fails?
With N+M hot standby, a standby device takes over and keeps recording, then sends the footage back once the host recovers.
