Dahua HAC-HDW1200M - 2MP 1080p HDCVI IR Eyeball Turret CCTV Camera

The Dahua HAC-HDW1200M is a 2MP 1080p HDCVI IR eyeball turret CCTV camera from Dahua's Lite series, with a 3.6mm fixed lens and up to 30m of Smart IR night vision. HDCVI carries high definition video over standard coaxial cable, so it can upgrade an older analogue system without new cable. The aluminium housing is waterproof to IP67 and the camera runs from 12V DC.

Also listed as DH-HAC-HDW1200M.

Key features

• 1080P (1920 x 1080) HDCVI video at up to 30fps, with HD and SD output that can be switched. See Dahua HDCVI cameras explained.
• Multi-format output: HDCVI, CVBS and two other common HD analogue formats, switched through the OSD menu or the PFM820 UTC controller.
• 3.6mm fixed lens with an F1.85 aperture and a horizontal angle of view of 87.5 degrees. Dahua also lists 2.8mm and 6mm versions.
• Night vision: 12 IR LEDs give IR illumination up to 30m with Smart IR.
• DWDR, 2D noise reduction and BLC / HLC modes, with an 11-language OSD menu.
• IP67 aluminium housing for indoor or outdoor use, with an operating range of -40°C to +60°C.
• 12V DC power with a plus or minus 30% input voltage tolerance, maximum 3.3W with IR on.
• HDCVI transmission up to 800m (1080P) or 1200m (720P) over coaxial cable, and up to 300m (1080P) over UTP cable (Dahua real-scene lab figures).

Common questions

What does HDCVI mean?

HDCVI is Dahua's technology for carrying high definition video over standard coaxial cable, so an old analogue camera run can be reused. See Dahua HDCVI cameras explained.

Is the HAC-HDW1200M a turret camera?

Dahua calls this housing an eyeball camera. Many UK buyers search for the same round fixed-lens housing as a turret camera. It adjusts through pan 0° to 360°, tilt 0° to 78° and rotation 0° to 360°.

Which recorder do I need?

An HDCVI-capable recorder, such as a Dahua XVR. Dahua says the camera also supports CVBS and two other HD analogue formats, so it can work with many existing HD and SD DVRs. See Dahua Penta-brid recorders explained, or tell us your recorder model and we will check.

What lens does it have?

This listing is the 3.6mm fixed lens version. Dahua also lists 2.8mm and 6mm versions of the HAC-HDW1200M; the DORI table above compares all three.

How far will the night vision reach?

Dahua lists IR distance up to 30m with Smart IR. With the 3.6mm lens the DORI table gives Detect at 53m, Observe at 21m, Recognize at 11m and Identify at 5m.

Is it waterproof for outdoor use?

It has an IP67 rating, which Dahua describes as protected against water and dust and suitable for indoor or outdoor use, with an operating range of -40°C to +60°C.

Are there other 2MP HDCVI eyeball versions?

Yes. The HAC-HDW1200EM-A has a built-in mic, and the HAC-HDW1200EM-POC can be powered over the coax.
