Dahua HAC-HDW1200EM-POC - 2MP 1080p HDCVI PoC IR Eyeball Turret CCTV Camera
The Dahua HAC-HDW1200EM-POC is a 2MP 1080p HDCVI PoC IR eyeball turret CCTV camera from Dahua's Lite series, with a fixed 3.6mm lens, Smart IR night vision up to 50m and an IP67 aluminium housing. Dahua's datasheet lists it as DH-HAC-HDW1200EM-POC. Video, data and power travel over one coaxial cable, and Dahua says an HDCVI system can upgrade an analogue system without replacing the existing coaxial cabling. As a wired CCTV camera it connects to a recorder over that coax, so it suits a surveillance camera system that is being upgraded or built on existing cabling.
Also listed as DH-HAC-HDW1200EM-POC.
Key features
- 1/2.7" CMOS sensor with 1920 x 1080 (2MP) output at 25/30 fps (1080P), or 720P at 25/30/50/60 fps
- HDCVI technology carries video, data and power over one coaxial cable and supports PoC (power over coax); Dahua rates transmission up to 800 m (1080P) over coax and up to 300 m over UTP cable, verified in its own test laboratory
- Smart IR: an array IR LED reaching up to 50 m (164 ft) for night vision, which adjusts its intensity to the distance of the object so close subjects are not over-exposed
- Fixed 3.6mm lens (2.8mm optional) with F1.85 aperture, 0.02 lux minimum illumination and 0 lux with IR on
- HD and SD output switchable: HDCVI, CVBS and two other common HD analogue formats can be selected through the OSD menu or the PFM820 UTC controller, so it also suits most existing HD/SD DVRs
- 11-language OSD menu with BLC, HLC and DWDR, 2D noise reduction, privacy mask and motion detect
- IP67 aluminium housing, -40 °C to +60 °C operating range, ±30% input voltage tolerance and 4KV lightning rating

Common questions
What does HDCVI mean on the HAC-HDW1200EM-POC?
HDCVI is Dahua's way of sending HD video over coaxial cable. On this camera it carries video, data and power over one coax and gives 1080P full HD. Dahua says an HDCVI system can upgrade an analogue system without replacing the existing coaxial cabling. Our HDCVI guide explains the range.
How far can the signal travel?
Dahua lists up to 800 m at 1080P over coaxial cable and up to 300 m at 1080P over UTP cable, verified by real-scene testing in Dahua's own laboratory.
How is it powered?
From PoC (power over coax) or 12 V DC with a ±30% input tolerance. Dahua lists maximum power consumption of 4.2 W with 12 V DC and IR on.
Which recorders does it work with?
It outputs HDCVI or CVBS, and Dahua says the camera also supports two other common HD analogue formats, selected through the OSD menu, so it suits most existing HD/SD DVRs as well as XVRs. Our Penta-brid recorders guide explains how Dahua's XVRs handle mixed cameras.
How far does the IR reach?
Up to 50 m (164 ft) with Smart IR, which can be set to Auto or Manual. The camera lists 0 lux minimum illumination with IR on.
Is it suitable for outdoor use, and does it record sound?
It is IP67 rated against water and dust, so it can be mounted outdoors. Dahua lists an operating range of -40 °C to +60 °C. The audio interface is listed as N/A, so this model has no audio input. For a 2MP HDCVI eyeball with a built-in mic, see the HAC-HDW1200EM-A.
