Dahua IPC-HFW5431E-Z — 4MP 2K WDR IR Bullet IP CCTV Camera
The Dahua IPC-HFW5431E-Z (listed on Dahua's datasheet as DH-IPC-HFW5431E-Z) is a 4MP 2K WDR IR bullet IP CCTV camera with a 2.7-12mm motorised zoom lens, 50 m IR night vision and PoE power. It records 2688 × 1520 at up to 25/30 fps with 120 dB true WDR, and carries an IP67 rating. A sibling model, the Dahua IPC-HFW5431E-ZE, adds IK10 vandal resistance and a 2.7-13.5mm lens.
Key features
- 4MP (2688 × 1520) image from a 1/3" progressive scan CMOS sensor, at up to 25/30 fps.
- 2.7-12mm motorised lens with motorised focus, 4x optical zoom and F1.4 aperture.
- Four IR LEDs give night vision up to 50 m; minimum illumination is 0.03 lux in colour and 0 lux with the IR on.
- True WDR (120 dB), Day/Night (ICR), 3D noise reduction, BLC, HLC and Smart IR.
- IVS tripwire, intrusion and abandoned or missing object detection, plus face detection.
- Smart H.265+ compression, which Dahua says saves up to 70% of bandwidth and storage compared with standard H.265.
- IP67 protection for use as an outdoor camera, -30°C to +60°C operating temperature, ±30% input voltage tolerance and a 4 KV lightning rating.
- PoE (802.3af, Class 0) or 12 VDC; 2 alarm inputs, 1 alarm output, 1 audio input and 1 audio output; microSD up to 128GB.

Common questions
Is it a 2K camera?
It is a 4MP camera: the sensor gives 2688 × 1520, which is 2K. It can also stream 2304 × 1296 and 1080P.
What does the motorised lens do?
Dahua lists a 2.7-12mm lens with motorised focus control and 4x optical zoom, so the view can be framed between wide and tele.
How far does the IR night vision reach?
This infrared camera has four IR LEDs that reach up to 50 m, and the minimum illumination is 0 lux with the IR on.
Is it a waterproof camera, and is it vandal resistant?
It is IP67 rated and works from -30°C to +60°C, so it can be mounted outdoors. Dahua lists vandal resistance as N/A for this model; the IPC-HFW5431E-ZE is the version rated IK10.
What does WDR do?
Dahua says true WDR (120 dB) optimises both the bright and dark areas of a scene at the same time to give usable video in high-contrast lighting.
How is it powered?
By PoE (802.3af, Class 0) or 12 VDC, using under 11.5 W.
Is it an ONVIF camera, and will it work with a recorder that is not Dahua?
Yes. It also supports PSIA, CGI and an SDK, so it can be added to compatible third-party recorders.
