Hikvision DS-PDBG8-EG2-WE AX PRO Wireless Glass Break Detector

The Hikvision DS-PDBG8-EG2-WE is the AX PRO range's dedicated acoustic glass-break detector — a slim, battery-powered microphone that listens for the sound of breaking glass across 120° and up to 8 metres, and raises the alarm before anyone has climbed through.

Perimeter protection without cutting into the frame

A door contact only knows when a window opens. An intruder who smashes the pane and steps through never trips it. A glass-break detector covers exactly that gap — and because it works by sound, one device can watch every window in the room rather than needing a contact on each.

At 38.8 × 107 × 24.5 mm it is one of the smallest devices in the range, and it mounts on a wall or ceiling, so it can sit discreetly in a corner with a clear line of hearing to the glass.

Tuned for real glass, not just noise

The digital processing is looking for the specific signature of glass fracturing — the low-frequency thud of impact followed by the high-frequency shatter — not simply a loud bang. It is rated for float, plate, tempered, wired, laminated and double-glazed glass from 2.4 mm to 6.4 mm, in panes from 0.3 × 0.3 m up to 3 × 3 m.

Four sensitivity settings — 2 m, 4 m, 6 m and 8 m — match the detector to its distance from the glass, which is how you get reliable detection without nuisance triggers from ordinary household noise.

A wired input for one more device

Unusually for a glass-break sensor, this one carries a wired alarm input — normally open, normally closed or pulse-count. That lets you connect an existing wired contact, a vibration sensor or a shock sensor and have it report through this detector's radio, without buying a separate wireless module.

Two CR123A cells give up to five years of standby.

Radio built for alarms

Tri-X two-way wireless at 868 MHz, AES-128 encryption, frequency hopping, 1.6 km free-space range. The panel confirms every transmission. Enrol by power-up, remote ID or QR code.

Cover and backplate are both monitored. Temperature and signal strength indicators confirm a mounting position before you fix it.

Worth knowing before you order

Curtains and blinds mute it. Heavy fabric between the detector and the window absorbs the sound. Mount it where it can "hear" the glass directly — between the curtain and the pane, or on the ceiling with a clear path.

It is a glass-break sensor only. There is no motion detection. It protects the window; a PIR protects the room. If you want both in one housing, the DS-PDPG12P combines them.

Frequently asked questions

Should I use this or the combined PIR + glass-break detector?

Use this where you already have a PIR covering the room and just want to add window protection, or where a small ceiling-mounted device is preferable. Use the DS-PDPG12P where one device needs to do both jobs.

How many windows can one detector cover?

Every pane within 8 m and 120° that it has a clear line of hearing to. In a typical room that is usually all of them.

Does it work with double glazing?

Yes — double glazing is one of the six rated glass types.

What is the wired input for?

Connecting one extra wired device — a contact, shock sensor or vibration sensor — so it reports through this detector's radio.

Will a dropped glass or a slammed door set it off?

It is looking for the specific impact-then-shatter signature of a breaking pane, not just a loud noise. Set the sensitivity to match your distance from the glass and false alarms are rare.

Does it work with other alarm panels?

No. It is a Tri-X 868 MHz device for Hikvision AX PRO panels only.
