Fire and intrusion on one system

A smoke alarm on the AX PRO network means one app for the whole building, rather than a separate standalone fire system nobody checks. If it triggers while you're out, the alert reaches your phone the same way an intrusion alert would.

Two batteries doing two different jobs

This detector has an unusual and deliberate design: the smoke sensor itself runs on a sealed, non-replaceable Energizer L91 pair rated for a genuine 10 years — the sensor and its power supply are one unit, matching how domestic smoke alarms are increasingly required to be sold. Separately, a replaceable CR123A powers the wireless radio, rated for 5 years. So the radio battery gets changed periodically over the unit's life; the sensor itself does not need opening up.

Loud enough to matter on its own

An 85 dB local sounder at 3 m means it does its job even if the panel or app notification is missed — genuinely audible in the room it's protecting, not just a status light.

Alarm sound interlink

Where more than one is fitted, they can sound together — smoke detected in one room triggers the sounder in every linked unit, so an alarm at one end of a house or building is heard everywhere, not just where the smoke actually is.

Self-health check

The detector monitors its own condition and reports faults, rather than relying on someone remembering to test it.

Worth knowing before you order

Two different battery lifespans, not one. The sensor's own cells last the unit's whole 10-year life and are not meant to be opened. The radio's CR123A is the one to replace periodically — check it in the AX PRO app rather than opening the unit.

Ceiling mount only. Standard positioning for a domestic or commercial smoke detector.

It needs an AX PRO panel. A device for the AX PRO system only — not standalone, not compatible with other manufacturers' panels.

Not a heat detector. Where smoke isn't a reliable early sign — a kitchen, for example — the DS-PDHT-E-WE heat detector is the correct choice instead.
