The TP-Link Omada ES205G is an easy managed switch with 5 Gigabit RJ45 ports with no PoE output, in a desktop steel case that can also be wall mounted. It can be set up on its own through a web interface or adopted into an Omada SDN controller for central management.

What the ES205G is for

The ES205G is a Gigabit network switch for connecting PCs, NVRs, printers and access points in a small office, shop or home office. It gives no PoE, so powered devices need their own supply or a PoE injector.

What you will need

You need network cable for each device. It gives no PoE, so cameras or access points need separate power. For central management you need an Omada controller (hardware, software or cloud-based); it is not needed for standalone use.

Does the ES205G supply PoE?

No. The ES205G has no PoE output. If you need PoE, the ES205GP is a PoE version.

Is the ES205G managed or unmanaged?

It is an easy managed (smart) switch. It works out of the box, and through its web interface you can set VLANs, QoS, IGMP snooping, link aggregation and port mirroring. It sits between an unmanaged switch and TP-Link's fully managed Omada SG range.

Is the ES205G Omada compatible and does it need a controller?

Yes, it is part of the TP-Link Omada range. It does not need a controller to work, but adopting it into an Omada hardware, software or cloud-based controller adds central management, the Omada app and cloud access alongside your Omada access points and gateways.

Does the ES205G have an SFP port?

No. All 5 ports are RJ45, so there is no fibre uplink.

Can the ES205G be rack mounted?

No. It is a desktop steel case that can also be wall mounted, not a rack unit.

What is the difference between the ES205G and the ES205GP?

The ES205G has 5 Gigabit RJ45 ports with no PoE output. The ES205GP has 5 Gigabit RJ45 ports, 4 of them PoE (65 W budget).

How quickly can I get it?

We ship nationally from our multi-million pound warehouse, with orders leaving daily. Orders placed before 2:30pm are normally dispatched for delivery within 1–2 working days to England, Scotland and Wales. You can also collect in store from our trade counter — call first so we can confirm your order is ready. We do not ship to Northern Ireland.
