SG2008 — TP-Link Omada 8-Port Gigabit Smart Switch

The TP-Link Omada SG2008 is a fanless desktop smart managed switch with eight gigabit RJ45 ports, one of which is a PD port so the switch can be powered from a PoE source instead of its 12V adapter. It has ±6 kV surge protection, L2+ features including static routing, and draws a maximum of 6.4 W. It does not supply PoE to other devices.

What the SG2008 is for

This tp link managed switch is a small managed switch for a desk, comms cupboard or meeting room, adding VLANs and QoS where an unmanaged switch would not. Because it can take power over its PD port from an upstream PoE switch, it can go where there is no mains socket. See our range of network switches.

What you will need

The power adapter is included, or you can power it from an upstream PoE switch or injector on the PD port. You need network cable for each device and an Omada controller if you want central management.

Does the SG2008 supply PoE?

No. It does not power other devices. One port is a PD port, which lets the switch itself be powered from a PoE source. For PoE output, see the SG2008P.

Is the SG2008 Omada compatible, and does it need a controller?

It is a TP-Link Omada switch and works with Omada Hardware, Software or Cloud-Based Controllers. A controller is optional: it can also be managed standalone through the web GUI or CLI.

Can the SG2008 be powered over Ethernet?

Yes. TP-Link state it can be powered by its 12V adapter or obtain power from a PoE source on its PD port.

How quickly can I get it?

We ship nationally from our multi-million pound warehouse, with orders leaving daily. Orders placed before 2:30pm are normally dispatched for delivery within 1–2 working days to England, Scotland and Wales. You can also collect in store from our trade counter — call first so we can confirm your order is ready. We do not ship to Northern Ireland.
