Dahua HAC-HDBW2501R-Z - 5MP Starlight HDCVI Infrared Dome CCTV Camera

Dahua HAC-HDBW2501R-Z - 5MP Starlight HDCVI IR Dome CCTV Camera

The Dahua HAC-HDBW2501R-Z is a 5MP Starlight HDCVI IR dome CCTV camera with a 2.7-13.5mm motorised zoom lens and up to 30m of Smart IR night vision. HDCVI sends high definition video over standard coaxial cable, so the camera can replace an older analogue dome on the same coax run. The housing is waterproof to IP67 and vandal-resistant to IK10, and the camera runs from 12V DC.

Also listed as DH-HAC-HDBW2501R-Z.

Specification note: Dahua's current datasheet covers the related PoC model HAC-HDBW2501R-Z-POC. Figures that can differ between the two (frame rate, minimum illumination and angle of view) are not listed here. Contact us if you need them checked for this model.

Key features

• Low light camera performance from a Starlight sensor, with 120dB true WDR and 3DNR. Dahua says Starlight captures more detail and accurate colour at night or in scenes with limited illumination. See Dahua Starlight low-light cameras.
• 5MP HDCVI video, with HD and SD output that can be switched by a DIP switch on the cable. See Dahua HDCVI cameras explained.
• 2.7-13.5mm motorised zoom lens.
• Night vision: IR illumination up to 30m with Smart IR.
• IP67 and IK10 housing. Dahua describes IP67 as dust-proof and able to work after soaking in 1m of water for 30 minutes, and IK10 as withstanding impacts of 20J.
• Audio input interface (1 channel in).
• 12V DC power with a plus or minus 30% input voltage tolerance.

Common questions

What does HDCVI mean?

HDCVI is Dahua's technology for carrying high definition video over standard coaxial cable. Dahua says it can reuse existing coax and, in its lab testing, reach up to 700m for 5MP over coax. See Dahua HDCVI cameras explained.

What does Starlight mean on this camera?

Starlight is Dahua's low light sensor technology, which uses a large sensor and a large aperture lens to capture detail in very low light. See Dahua Starlight low-light cameras.

Which recorder do I need?

A recorder that supports 5MP HDCVI input on each channel, such as a Dahua XVR. Dahua says the camera supports CVBS and other HD analogue formats, selected by the DIP switch. See Dahua Penta-brid recorders explained, or tell us your recorder model and we will check.

Is it vandal-resistant?

It has an IK10 rating. Dahua describes IK10 as an enclosure that can stand more than 5 punches from a 5kg hammer dropped from 40cm (20J of impact energy).

How far will the night vision reach?

Dahua lists IR illumination up to 30m with Smart IR, which adjusts LED intensity so close objects are not overexposed.

Can it record sound?

The listing shows a 1-channel audio input interface, so a microphone can be connected to it. No built-in microphone is listed. If you record audio, display signage saying so.
