The Dahua HAC-HFW2231R-Z-IRE6 is a 2MP 1080p Starlight HDCVI IR bullet CCTV camera with a 2.7-13.5mm motorised zoom lens and up to 60m of Smart IR night vision. HDCVI sends high definition video over standard coaxial cable, so the camera can replace an older analogue camera on the same coax run. The housing is waterproof to IP67 and the camera runs from 12V DC.

Common questions

What does HDCVI mean?

HDCVI is Dahua's technology for carrying high definition video over standard coaxial cable. Dahua says it can reuse existing coax and, in its lab testing, reach up to 800m at 1080P. See Dahua HDCVI cameras explained.

What does Starlight mean on this camera?

Starlight is Dahua's low light sensor technology. For this camera Dahua lists a minimum illumination of 0.005Lux at F1.3 with 120dB true WDR. See Dahua Starlight low-light cameras.

Does it support PoC (power over coax)?

Dahua's datasheet lists PoC for the related HAC-HFW2231R-Z-IRE6-POC model. This HAC-HFW2231R-Z-IRE6 is specified for 12V DC ±25% power, so plan a 12V supply unless you are buying the -POC model.

Which recorder do I need?

An HDCVI-capable recorder, such as a Dahua XVR. Dahua lists IR distance up to 60m with Smart IR. In the DORI table above the wide 2.7mm setting detects at 47m and the 13.5mm tele setting at 153m.

It has an IP67 rating, which Dahua describes as protected against water and dust and suitable for indoor or outdoor use, with an operating range of -40°C to +60°C.
