The DS-2AE5225ITG is a 5-inch Turbo HD PTZ speed dome: 2 MP at 25× optical zoom, running over coax to a DVR. If there is already cable in the ground, this is what saves you rewiring the site.

The bigger 5-inch body is what buys you the longer reach — IR to 150 m rather than the 100 m of the 4-inch domes, and a faster 120°/s pan. It holds 256 presets with patrols and pattern scans, is rated IP66, and the video output is switchable between TVI, AHD, CVI and CVBS so it will talk to most existing recorders. Note it needs a 36 V DC supply, not 12 V.

Will this work with my existing DVR?

It outputs switchable TVI, AHD, CVI or CVBS over coax and takes PTZ control over the same cable (UTC) or RS-485, so it works with most Hikvision and many third-party DVRs. Tell us your recorder model and we will confirm before you order.

Why choose this over the 4-inch domes?

Reach. IR to 150 m instead of 100 m, and a faster pan. On a short driveway the 4-inch is the sensible buy; on a yard or a long boundary the extra range earns its keep.

Can I run it from my existing 12 V supply?

No. This model needs 36 V DC at up to 30 W. Plan the supply before you order — it is the most common thing people miss on the 5-inch domes.

How far can it see at night?

Hikvision quotes IR to 150 m. That is the illumination range, not the identification range — you will recognise a person well before that distance.
