The DS-2DE4225WG1-E3 is a 2 MP 4-inch IP PTZ speed dome with 25× optical zoom, running over network cable to an NVR on 802.3at PoE.

It pans 360° at up to 160°/s — twice the speed of most domes in this class, which matters if an operator is driving it manually — tilts 0° to 90°, and holds 300 presets with 8 patrols and 4 pattern scans. Note this is an indoor model: it has no IP rating and no built-in IR, and Hikvision specifies -10 °C to 50 °C. For an outdoor position choose one of the IP66 or IP67 domes.

How much zoom do I need?

This model has 25× optical zoom. As a rule of thumb, 4× suits a forecourt, 15–25× a car park or yard, and 32× or more a long boundary. Digital zoom is not a substitute — it only enlarges pixels.

Can I mount it outdoors?

No. Hikvision lists no IP rating for this model and an operating range of -10 °C to 50 °C, so it is an indoor camera. For an outdoor position choose an IP66 or IP67 dome such as the DS-2DE4215IWG1-E.

How far does it see at night?

It has no built-in IR, so it relies on existing lighting. In a lit atrium or warehouse that is fine; in the dark, choose an IR model.

Can it follow someone automatically?

Auto-tracking is a per-model feature rather than standard across the range. Check the smart tracking row in the table above, or tell us it matters and we will confirm before you order.

Do I still need fixed cameras?

On most sites, yes. A PTZ looks in one direction at a time, so fixed cameras on the entrances give you the constant evidence while the PTZ investigates.
