The DS-2DE5425IWG1-E is a 4 MP 5-inch IP PTZ speed dome with 25× optical zoom, auto-tracking and IR to 150 m, running over network cable to an NVR.

The 150 m IR is what you are paying for over the 4-inch domes — half as far again as their 100 m — which makes this the one for an unlit yard or compound. It pans 360°, tilts -15° to 90° with auto flip, holds 300 presets with 8 patrols and 4 pattern scans, and is rated IP67 and IK10 with 6,000 V surge protection. It runs from 36 V DC or 802.3at PoE.

Frequently asked questions

Why choose this over a 4-inch dome?

IR reach, mainly: 150 m against 100 m, plus IK10 impact resistance. On a lit car park the 4-inch dome does the same job for less. On an unlit yard or a long boundary, the extra IR is the difference between seeing something and not.

How far does it see at night?

Hikvision quotes IR to 150 m. That is the illumination range, not the identification range — you will recognise a person well before that distance.

Will standard PoE power it?

No. It needs 802.3at PoE+ (up to 24 W) or a 36 V DC supply. A standard 802.3af switch is the usual reason a PTZ resets when it moves or when the IR comes on.

Can it follow someone automatically?

Yes. Hikvision lists manual tracking and auto-tracking for this model, so it will lock on to a moving person or vehicle and follow it until it leaves the scene.

Do I still need fixed cameras?

On most sites, yes. A PTZ looks in one direction at a time, so fixed cameras on the entrances give you the constant evidence while the PTZ investigates.
