The DS-2DE5425WG1-E is a 4 MP 5-inch IP PTZ speed dome with 25× optical zoom and auto-tracking, running over network cable to an NVR.

It pans 360° at up to 250°/s with a 300°/s preset speed, tilts -5° to 90° with auto flip, and holds 300 presets with 8 patrols and 4 pattern scans. It will run from 36 V DC, 24 V AC or 802.3at PoE, which gives you options on a long cable run. Note there is no built-in IR on this model, so it needs existing lighting.

Frequently asked questions

How much zoom do I need?

This model has 25× optical zoom. As a rule of thumb, 4× suits a forecourt, 15–25× a car park or yard, and 32× or more a long boundary. Digital zoom is not a substitute — it only enlarges pixels.

How far does it see at night?

It has no built-in IR, so it relies on existing lighting. Hikvision rates minimum illumination at 0.005 Lux in colour, so it copes with a lit car park — but in the dark, choose an IR model such as the DS-2DE5425IWG1-E.

Will standard PoE power it?

No. It needs 802.3at PoE+, or 36 V DC or 24 V AC at up to 20 W. Having three supply options helps on a long run where PoE voltage drop is a concern.

Can it follow someone automatically?

Yes. Hikvision lists manual tracking and auto-tracking for this model, so it will lock on to a moving person or vehicle and follow it until it leaves the scene.

Do I still need fixed cameras?

On most sites, yes. A PTZ looks in one direction at a time, so fixed cameras on the entrances give you the constant evidence while the PTZ investigates.
