The DS-2DE5432WG1-E is a 4 MP 5-inch IP PTZ speed dome with 32× optical zoom and auto-tracking, running over network cable to an NVR.

The 32× lens reaches to 153.6 mm, which is where this one earns its place: a long boundary, a quarry or a stretch of fence where a 25× dome runs out of detail. It pans 360° at up to 250°/s, tilts -5° to 90° with auto flip, holds 300 presets, and is rated IP66 and IK10. It runs from 36 V DC, 24 V AC or 802.3at PoE. Note there is no built-in IR, so it needs existing lighting.

Frequently asked questions

When is 32× worth it over 25×?

When the subject is a long way off. 32× reaches to 153.6 mm against 120 mm, so it holds detail further out — a boundary fence, a quarry face, a long approach road. On a car park it is wasted money and a 25× dome is the better buy.

How far does it see at night?

It has no built-in IR, so it relies on existing lighting. If the area is unlit, choose an IR model such as the DS-2DE5425IWG1-E with 150 m IR.

Does the mounting matter at this zoom?

Yes, more than most people expect. At 32× a small movement at the camera becomes a large movement in the picture, so a pole that flexes in the wind will make the image unusable at full zoom however good the camera is.

Can it follow someone automatically?

Yes. Hikvision lists manual tracking and auto-tracking for this model, so it will lock on to a moving person or vehicle and follow it until it leaves the scene.

Do I still need fixed cameras?

On most sites, yes. A PTZ looks in one direction at a time, so fixed cameras on the entrances give you the constant evidence while the PTZ investigates.
